OFF DAY N/A

Syracuse Chiefs L, 3-2 vs. Rochester
WDWRD: 0-4, 2K; 1-1 SBA-CS
Starter/Pitching Star: Martis 7IP 10H 2R 2ER 1BB 3K
Hitting Star#1: Bynum 1-3, 2RBI
Hitting Star#2: Botts 1-3, 2R, 1BB
Notes: Rochester started the scoring off in the top of the 4th inning with two runs, while Syracuse could only get one run in the 5th to answer. Syracuse managed to tie things up in the 7th making it 2-2, but Rochester didn’t give them much time to relax as they scored one run of their own in the 8th to win this one 3-2. Starter Shairon Martis went seven innings giving up 10 hits, two runs and one walk, but got the no-decision.

Harrisburg Senators L, 18-6 vs. Altoona
Starting Pitcher: Roark (L, 0-1) 6IP 7H 3R 3ER 2BB 4K
Pitching Star: Dials 1IP 1H 0R 0BB 1K
Hitting Star#1: Fox 1-1, R, HR, 2RBI
Hitting Star#2: Coon 3-4, R, 3B
Notes: Well, this game seemed like an okay game until the 9th inning, here’s the recap. In the 1st Altoona hit in the 1st run, while the Sens answered with one run in the bottom of the 2nd. Altoona scored two more runs in the 4th making it 4-2, Harrisburg got one in the next inning to cut away at that lead but unfortunately things started to fall apart after that. Altoona started on a scoring streak as they scored five runs in the 7th, Harrisburg could only score one in the bottom of the frame. In the 8th Harrisburg made a comeback attempt scoring three runs making it 8-6. But the 9th innings marked the end of the Sens comeback dreams. Altoona attacked hard in the 9th scoring 10 whopping runs to blast their lead up to 18-6, which would be our final. Starter Tanner Roark went six innings giving up seven hits, three runs and two walks with the loss.

Potomac Nationals L, 6-1; W, 4-3 @ Myrtle Beach

GAME ONE
Starting Pitcher: Jas. Jones (L, 0-1) 4IP 7H 3R 0ER 1BB 1K
Pitching Star: None
Hitting Star #1: Rhinehart 2-3, R, BB, HR, RBI
Hitting Star #2: Lombardozzi 1-3, 2B
Notes: A sloppy first inning combined with sporadic hitting led to a 6-1 loss to the Pelicans in the opening game. Starter Jason Jones went just four innings and allowed three unearned runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out just one. Bill Rhinehart’s solo HR in the 5th was the highlight of the Potomac offense, which consisted of just five hits.

GAME TWO
Starting Pitcher: Holder 4⅓ IP 3H 3R 3ER 4BB 2K
Pitching Star: Testa (W, 1-0) 1⅔ IP 3H 0R 0BB 3K
Hitting Star #1: Moore 1-2, R, BB, SF, HR, 2RBI
Hitting Star #2: Rooney 3-3, R, BB
Notes: Tyler Moore’s league-leading 21st HR in the top of the 7th was the difference as the P-Nats took the nightcap by a score of 4-3. Starter Trevor Holder struggled with his command, walking four in his 4⅓ innings of work, as he allowed all three Myrtle Beach runs on just three singles. Newcomer Joe Testa won the game with 1⅔ innings of scoreless relief, while Pat McCoy struck out the side in the bottom of the 7th to notch his first save of the year.

Hagerstown Suns L, 14-9 @Kannapolis
Starting Pitcher: Bronson (L, 1-2) 4⅓ IP 9H 6R 6ER 1BB 5K 1HR
Pitching Star: None
Hitting Star#1: Sanchez 2-5, R, 3RBI
Hitting Star#2: Perez 3-4, R, RBI
Notes: Kannapolis began the scoring in the bottom of the 1st with one run and did likewise in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Hagerstown scored one run in the 3rd inning and followed up with four runs in the 4th, putting them ahead 5-3. That lead was short-lived though as Kannapolis scored four in the 5th and two in the 6th making it 9-6 as the Suns scored one in the top of the inning. Kannapolis proved to be too strong an adversary this day as the Intimidators scored one in the 8th and another four in the 9th, while Hagerstown could only score 3 in the 9th, giving Kannapolis the win at 14-9. Starter Evan Bronson went 4⅓ innings letting in nine hits, six runs, and one walk with the loss.

Vermont Lake Monsters L, 8-1 vs. Batavia
Starting Pitcher: Barrett (L, 0-2) 2IP 4H 3R 3ER 3BB 3K
Pitching Star: Eusebio 3⅓ IP 4H 0R 0BB 4K
Pitching Un-Star: Gibson 3⅔ IP 5H 5R 2ER 0BB 1K
Hitting Star #1: Kelso 2-4
Hitting Star #2: Labrie 1-3, R
Notes: Thanks to a three runs in the 2nd and two runs in the 3rd Batavia was able to take an early 5-0 lead. With three more runs scored in the 6th, they were able to grab an 8-1 lead, which was how the game ended. Starting pitcher Aaron Barrett lasted only two innings, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks. Offensively, things were a little tough for Vermont, as they only managed one run on five hits, two of which were by Blake Kelso.

GCL Nationals L, 6-2 @ GCL Astros
Starting Pitcher: Matt Grace 3IP 2H 1R 0ER 0BB 2K
Pitching Star: Christian Meza 3IP 1H 1R 0ER 0BB 5K
Hitting Star #1: Roberto Perez 2-2, SB, 2BB, HR, 2RBI
Hitting Star #2: Angel Montilla 2-5, R, 3B
Notes: Roberto Perez’s two-run home run gave the GCL Nationals a 2-1 lead in the third inning. Unfortunately, they play nine, and in the bottom of the 8th, the GCL Astros battered the G-Nats bullpen for four runs to break a 2-2 tie en route to a 6-2 win. Angel Montilla joined Perez in the hit parade, going 2-for-5, but only two other batters collected a hit as the Astros limited the Nationals to just six hits. Starter Matt Grace went three innings and allowed an unearned run on two hits and no walks while striking out two.

DSL Nationals L, 6-1; W, 5-3

GAME ONE
Starting Pitcher: Wirkin Estevez (L, 5-6) 6IP 5H 2R 1ER 3BB 7K
Hitting Star #1: Angel Montilla 1-3, 2B
Hitting Star #2: “Fred” Ortega 1-2, BB, SB
Notes: Wirkin Estevez pitched a complete-game loss, as the DSL Marlins shut out the DSL Nationals 2-0. The two teams combined for just eight hits and six walks, each team striking out seven times.

GAME TWO
Starting Pitcher: Adalberto Mieses 4IP 4H 3R 2ER 4BB 3K
Pitching Star: Inocencio Heredia (W, 3-3) 3IP 4H 0R 1BB 5K
Hitting Star #1: Narciso Mesa 2-4, R
Hitting Star #2: Victor Chavez 1-2, BB, SB
Notes: Offense was a bit more plentiful in the second game, as the DSL Nationals managed a split with a 5-3 win over the DSL Marlins. Porous defense also helped, as the D-Nats capitalized on three D-Marlins errors to score… wait for it… three unearned runs. Starting pitcher Adalberto Miese went four innings, walking four, striking out three, and allowing three runs (two earned) one four hits.
