Syracuse Chiefs W, 11-4 @ Indianpolis
WDWRD: 2-5; No CS-SB
Starting Pitcher: Arnesen (W, 5-7) 5IP 6H 4R 4ER 1BB 3K
Pitching Star: Wilkie 2IP 0H 0R 0BB 1K
Hitting Star #1: Bynum 2-6, 1R, 1HR, 3RBI
Hitting Star #2: Bixler 3-5, 2R, BB, RBI
Hitting Star #3: Espinosa 1-4, 2R, HR, BB, 4RBI
Notes: Indianpolis started out with a bit of a run as they scored one in the bottom of the 1st, another run in the 2nd and one more in the 3rd. But Syracuse didn’t take this sitting down as they scored two in the top of the 3rd, three in the 4th and two more runs in the top of the 5th making it 7-3. Indianpolis answered with 1 run in the 5th, but Syracuse shut them down with one more in the 7th and another 3 runs in the 9th, courtesy of Danny Espinosa’s fourth AAA home run, to win this one 11-4. Starter Erik Arnesen went five innings giving up six hits, four runs and three strikeouts with the win.
Harrisburg Senators — OFF DAY
Notes: The Sens had an off day on Monday and begin a three-game series versus Erie starting today. Harrisburg trails Bowie by one game for second place in the Western Division. The top two teams in each division make the Eastern League playoffs.
Potomac Nationals L, 2-1 @ Kinston
Starting Pitcher: Alaniz (L, 6-4) 6IP 4H 2R 2ER 2BB 7K
Pitching Star: Morris 2IP 2H 0R 0BB 2K
Hitting Star: Lozada 1-3, 2B, BB
Notes: Kinston’s reputation as “House of Horrors” for Potomac remained intact as the P-Nats fell 2-1. Staff ace Adrian Alaniz took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven. Kinston pitchers surrendered five walks, which Potomac tried its best to exploit with five stolen bases. But the clutch hit came just once in thirteen run-scoring opportunities, as the P-Nats left nine men on base overall. The loss slices their lead to just one over second-place Wilmington, who doubled up Frederick 8-4.
Hagerstown Suns W, 8-1 vs. Greensboro
Starting Pitcher: Clegg (W, 9-1) 6IP 5H 1R 1ER 2BB 1K
Pitching Star: Vasquez 1⅓ IP 2H 0R 2BB 1K
Hitting Star # 1: Perez 2-4, 2R
Hitting Star # 2: King 1-4, R, HR, 3RBI
Notes: Hagerstown scored one in the bottom of the first to start the game off. Greensboro tied the game back up in the 4th with one run but Hagerstown seemed to take offense to the run as they came back with six runs in the bottom of the inning, making it 7-1. In the 8th The Suns put this one to bed with one more run as they won this one 8-1. Starter Mitchel Clegg went six innings, giving up five hits, one run, and two walks with the win, his ninth for Hagerstown this season.
Vermont Lake Monsters — ALL STAR BREAK
Notes: It’s the New York-Penn League All Star game tonight in Staten Island, as Neil Holland, David Freitas, and Blake Kelso will represent the Lake Monsters as the N.L. Affiliates take on the A.L. affiliates. The legendary 74-games-in-77-days schedule resumes tomorrow with Vermont hosting Lowell.
GCL Nationals W, 9-4 vs. GCL Mets
Starting Pitcher: Pedro Encarnacion 4IP 3H 2R 2ER 0BB 3K
Pitching Star: Chris Manno 2IP 0H 0R 0BB 2K

Hitting Star #2: Rick Hughes 3-4, 2R, 2B, RBI
Hitting Star #3: Angel Montilla 3-5, R, SB, RBI
Notes: A four-run 2nd propelled the GCL Nationals to 9-4 win over the GCL Mets. Five batters collected two or more more hits, with Tyler Oliver driving in five runs. Starter Pedro Encarnacion went the first four innings, allowing two runs on three hits without a walk and striking out three while Chris Manno earned pitching star honors with two scoreless innings to close out the game.
DSL Nationals L, 6-5 vs. DSL Marlins
Starting Pitcher: Wirkin Estevez (L, 5-7) 6IP 5H 3R 2ER 1BB 8K
Pitching Star: Inocencio Heredia 1IP 0H 0R 0BB 1K
Hitting Star #1: Wilmer Difo 2-4
Hitting Star #2: Jean Valdez 1-3, R, 2B
Notes: The D-Nats bats were held down until the bottom of the 7th, when they put up a three-spot. Unfortunately, that only cut the DSL Marlins lead in half, as the DSL Nationals could only get two more runs in the next innings, falling by a final of 6-5. Starting pitcher Wirkin Estevez went six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk while setting down eight on strikes. Wilmer Difo led the offense with a 2-for-4 effort.
