Syracuse Chiefs — OFF DAY
Notes: Chase Lambin’s RBI double earned him MVP honors in the AAA All-Star Game held last night in Allentown, PA. He also scored the game-winning run in the 2-1 International League victory over the Pacific Coast League. The Chiefs’ second half begins with four-game homestand against Pawtucket, then Syracuse hits the road for eight games against the Norfolks Tides and Charlotte Knights.

Harrisburg Senators — OFF DAY
Notes: Tom Milone started and pitched two scoreless innings and Rafael Martin got the win for the Western Division with a scoreless 7th in the Eastern League All-Star game. Chris Marrero came off the bench with a single and a run scored, while Danny Espinosa started at SS and went 0-for-2 with a run scored. The Senators now play host to the Altoona Curve for four games, then the New Britain Rock Cats for three.

Hagerstown Suns W, 5-3 vs. Rome
Starting Pitcher: Rosenbaum (W, 2-5) 6IP 5H 3R 2ER 2BB 7K
Pitching Star: Graham 2IP 1H 0R 0BB 3K
Hitting Star # 1: Perez  2-4, 2R, RBI
Hitting Star # 2: Hood  2-4, R
Notes: Rome started the scoring in 3rd with one run and added two more in the 4th inning. The Suns then answered in the bottom of the 4th with four runs to put them out front 4-3. Hagerstown then added one more run in the 6th to make it 5-3. With that they were able to hang onto that lead as they got the win at 5-3. Starter Dan Rosenbaum got the win, pitching six innings giving up five hits, three runs, three walks with seven strikeouts.

Notes: Vermont started the scoring with one run in the bottom of the 1st and added one more in the bottom of the 2nd. Aberdeen answered back with one run in the top of the 3rd to make it 2-1. Both teams remained scoreless until the 7th, where Vermont scored four more runs in the bottom of the inning to take this one 6-1. Starter Bobby Hansen went six innings giving up four hits, one run and one walk with the win.

GCL Nationals L, 10-6 @ GCL Marlins
Starting Pitcher: Miguel Navarro 1IP 3H 3R 3ER 1BB 0K

Hitting Star #2: Tyler Oliver 2-3, R, BB
Notes: A seven-run 5th turned a 5-3 lead into a 10-5 deficit as the GCL Nationals fell again to the GCL Marlins 10-6. Randolph Oduber and Tyler Oliver led the offense, collectively going 4-for-5 with three runs, three walks and two stolen bases.

DSL Nationals W, 2-1 @ DSL Yankees1
Starting Pitcher: Anthony Marcelino 5IP 3H 1R 0ER 3BB 3K
Pitching Star: Jorge Hernandez (W, 2-1) 3IP 2H 0R 1BB 5K
Hitting Star: Adderling Ruiz 1-3, R, HR, RBI
Notes: A wild pitch in the 7th brought in the game-winner, as the DSL Nationals edged the DSL Yankees1 squad 2-1 on Wednesday. Both teams collected five hits, and unusually, the DSL Yankees1 lost despite issuing fewer walks (three vs. four), committing fewer errors (none vs. two) and turning more double plays (two vs. none). Starter Anthony Marcelino went five innings and allowed one unearned run on three hits and three walks, while Jorge Hernandez got the win with three scoreless innings of relief.

    Boy, the backstory on this Oduber guy is fascinating, looks like the Nats may have started him too low! Good pickup by the Nats.

    MASN has a report up that J.R.Higley is being suspended for taking a non-approved ADD medication (he has approval for Adderall, but apparently took something else). That’s not good.
