Syracuse Chiefs L, 6-2 vs. Buffalo
Starting Pitcher: Jones, Jas (L, 1-3) 7IP 8H 4R 4ER 1BB 3K 3HR
Pitching Star: None
Hitting Star #1: Maxwell 2-4
Hitting Star #2: Duncan 1-3, R
Notes: Buffalo began the scoring in the 1st with two runs and didn’t stop there as they added single runs in the 4th, 7th and the 8th. The Chiefs were finally able to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the 8th scoring two runs but that’s all they could muster off the Bisons’ Pat Misch, who pitched a five-hit complete game. The long ball was the downfall of Chiefs’ starter Jason Jones, as Buffalo took him deep three times over his seven innings of work, accounting for all four runs he gave up over his seven innings of work.

Harrisburg Senators W 4-0 vs. Richmond
Starting Pitcher: Kown (W, 3-4) 6IP 1H 0R 0BB 4K
Pitching Star: Kimball (H, 4) 2IP 1H 0R 1BB 4K
Hitting Star # 1: Valdez 2-4, R, HR, 2RBI
Hitting Star # 2: Lowrance 2-3, 1BB
Notes: The Sens had Richmond’s number today as three pitchers combined to shut them out on just two hits. Harrisburg began its scoring in the 3rd with one, then added two more in the 5th, and one more in the 8th to make it 4-0. Starter Andrew Kown went six innings giving up one hit, no runs, no walks while striking out four.

Potomac Nationals W, 7-4 @ Frederick
Starting Pitcher: Holder 4⅓ IP 7H 3R 3ER 1BB 1K 1HR
Pitching Star: VanAllen (W, 2-3) 1⅔ IP 0H 0R 0BB 4K; 0-3 IR-S
Hitting Star #1: Norris 1-3, 2R, 2BB, HR, 2RBI
Hitting Star #2: Burgess 2-5, R, 2RBI
Notes: The PNats bats were nearly as hot as the weather, plating seven runs on nine hits — including a two-run blast by Derek Norris in the first inning. Potomac added three more in the third and two more in the fourth, taking a 7-2 lead. The Keys chased starter Trevor Holder in the fifth by loading the bases and plating one on a botched grounder to third. Cory VanAllen came on with one out, the bases still juiced, and stranded all three with a strikeout and a flyout to end the threat and earn the win.

Hagerstown Suns L, 7-2 vs. West Virginia
Starting Pitcher: Smoker (L, 1-9) 4IP 6H 4R 4ER 4BB 5K 1HR
Pitching Star: Erb  2IP 0H 0R 3BB 0K
Hitting Star #1: Perez  3-4, R, 3B, SB
Hitting Star #2: Bloxom  1-3, RBI
Notes: The Suns began with the lead scoring one in the bottom of the 1st, but the Power answered back with one run in the top of the 2nd to tie things up. West Virginia then added two more runs in the 3rd to jump into the lead at 3-1. Hagerstown got one back in the bottom of the inning to keep it close at 3-2, but the Power shut them down the rest of the way. West Virginia extended its lead to 4-2 with one in the 4th, 6-2 with two more in the 8th, and made the final 7-2 with a run in the 9th. Starter Josh Smoker continues to struggle, losing his ninth game while going four innings, giving up four runs on six hits and four walks.

Vermont Lake Monsters — OFF DAY
Notes: Yesterday was the first of just four scheduled off days in the New York-Penn League season. Unfortunately, a good chunk of it was spent on a bus from Burlington to eastern Ohio, as Vermont starts a six-game road trip against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers and the State College Spikes. The Lake Monsters lead the Connecticut Tigers by four games in the Stedler Division with a spiffy 15-4 record.

GCL Nationals W, 8-4 (comp.) @ GCL Mets
Starter/Pitching Star: Kelvin Lopez (W, 1-0) 9IP 11H 4R 3ER 0BB 9K
Hitting Star #1: Wander Ramos 3-5, R, 2B, 2RBI
Hitting Star #2: Hector Taveras 3-5, R, 2B, 2RBI
Notes: Kelvin Lopez finished what he started last week to get the on-paper complete game, allowing four runs on 11 hits with no walks and nine strikeouts, as the GCL Nationals won the game 8-4. Wander Ramos and Hector Taveras both went 3-for-5 with a double and 2RBI to earn “hitting star” honors.

GCL Nationals L, 2-0 vs. GCL Mets
Rehab #1/Starter: Scott Olsen 2IP 2H 0R 0BB 1K
Rehab #2: Brad Meyers 2IP 0H 0R 1B 1K
Hitting Star: Mills Rogers 2-2, BB
Notes: In the regularly scheduled contest, Scott Olsen and Brad Meyers both tossed two scoreless innings in rehab, but the offense was AWOL (5 hits, 8 LOB, 0-10 RISP) as the GCL Mets won 2-0.
