Notes: Led by starter Shairon Martis, three Syracuse pitchers combined to shut out the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs by a 9-0 count. Martis went seven innings giving up six hits, no runs and one walk with four strikeouts. The Chiefs offense backed up the pitching staff by scoring eight of their nine runs in the first four innings, powered by 12 hits (six for extra bases), including home runs by Justin Maxwell and Leonard Davis.

Notes: A three-run, first-inning home run by Chris Marrero led off the Harrisburg scoring binge. The Sens then added two more in the 3rd and one more in the 5th to make it 6-0. Starter Aaron Thompson pitched into the seventh, leaving with a 6-2 lead and a man on after 6⅓ innings of work (five hits, one walk, five strikeouts), but saw the bullpen blow the lead as Richmond scored all seven of its runs in the tops of the 7th and 8th innings. Harrisburg reclaimed the lead with a three-run rally in the bottom of the 8th, highlighted by a two-run single by Edgardo Baez, and Adam Carr nailed it down with a scoreless ninth for his second save.

Notes: A three-run blast in the third from Mike Burgess broke open a 2-0 game to send Potomac to its second straight win over the Frederick Keys by a 7-4 tally. Jordan Zimmermann allowed just one hit over three innings in his second rehab start, throwing 49 pitches (34 for strikes) according to MASN’s Byron Kerr. As predicted last week, Kerr also reported that Zimmermann is most likely going to next start in Woodbridge against Kinston on July 14.

Notes: Thanks to Souza’s 11th home run of the season, a two-run shot in the top of the 10th, Hagerstown was able to defeat Greenville in extra innings by a score of 6-5. Rob Wort won the game in relief, pitching three dominant innings with just one hit allowed while striking out five. Starter Dan Rosenbaum went the first six innings, allowing four runs on 11 hits and four walks. He also struck out seven. Offensively, Eury Perez led the 12-hit attack with three hits while recently promoted Marcus Jones went 2-for-4 with a home run.

Notes: It was a devastating loss for the Lake Monsters, as they took a 5-3 lead into the 9th inning only to have Dustin Crane allow 3 runs to score in just 2/3 of an inning. Starter Bobby Hansen got the no-decision, pitching 4⅔ innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks. He also struck out five. Reliever Shane McCatty tried to keep it close, pitching a wonderful 2⅓ innings, allowing only one hit and a walk. Russell Moldenhauer drove in two with his 5th home run of the season.

Notes: Rehabbing A.J. Morris stretched out to five innings, but gave up three runs, including a home run in the first in his 4th GCL appearance. The relievers that followed were even less effective, allowing two runs in the sixth, and three in the seventh as the G-Nats fell to the G-Astros 8-5. Offensively, the Viera crew collected 13 hits but twice hit into twin-killings, and left 14 men on base.
