Syracuse Chiefs W, 8-6 vs. Buffalo

Hitting Star # 2: Bynum 2-2, R, HR, 2RBI
Notes: Syracuse began the scoring in the bottom of the first with 3 runs and remained in the lead throughout this one. Buffalo drove in 1 run in the 4th but Syracuse matched it with 1 of their own in the 5th. In the 6th the Chiefs continued their assault scoring 2 more. The top of the 7th Buffalo made a comeback scoring 4 runs to cut the lead to 1, and then in the 8th Buffalo tied it all up at 6 all. It looked like it was going to extras but thanks to a 2 run homer by Bynum the Chiefs were able to win this one 8-6. Starter Chico went 6 innings giving up 6 hits, 4 runs and 2 walks with the win.

Harrisburg Senators L, 5-1 vs. Richmond
Starting Pitcher: Lannan (L, 1-2) 7IP 9H 4ER 1BB 4K 1HR
Pitching Star: Carr 1.1IP 0H 0R, 0BB, 1K
Hitting Star # 1: Coon 2-4
Hitting Star # 2: Martinez, 1-4, R, RBI
Notes: Both teams remained scoreless until the 4th where Richmond opened up the scoring with 1 run. Richmond then added 3 more in the 5th while the Sens were only able to answer with 1 run in the 6th. Richmond added 1 more run in the 8th to insure victory as they beat up Harrisburg 5-1. Starter Lannan went 7 innings giving up 9 hits, 4 runs, and 1 walk with the loss.

Notes: The Suns started this one guns-a-blazin’ as they scored a whooping 8 runs in the 2nd inning. They then proceeded to add 1 more run in the 2nd to amass a 9-0 lead. West Virginia chopped away at the Suns lead in the 3rd with 2 runs but the score remained that way until the 8th. Virginia scored 5 runs to make it 9-7 but couldn’t get any closer then that as Hagerstown won 9-7. Starter Applebee went 4 innings giving up 3 hits, 2 runs and 2 walks getting 5 strikes.

Vermont Lake Monsters L, 4-3 vs. Williamsport
Starting Pitcher: Jenkins (L, 1-2) 5IP 5H 4R 2ER 1BB 7K 1HR

Hitting Star # 1: Labrie 2-4, R, 2B
Hitting Star # 2: Freitas 2-4, 2B, BB, RBI
Notes: Despite scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning, the Lake Monsters were not able to hold on to their lead and loss against Williamsport by a score of 4-3. Jenkins too his 2nd loss, going 5 complete innings, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) off of 5 hits and 2 walks. Cahill and Herrera relieved him, both pitching magnificently, allowing only 3 hits and 2 walks in just under 4 innings. Labrie and Freitas were the offensive players of the game, both going 2-4 with doubles.

GCL Nationals — OFF DAY
Notes: The GCL Nationals are just 2-8 after their first 10 games, with completions of suspended games scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday against the GCL Cardinals and GCL Mets, respectively. They travel to Kissimmee on Thursday to face the GCL Astros, then return to Viera on Friday to face the GCL Marlins.

Notes: An error and a wild pitch plated two ninth-inning runs to help the DSL Nationals defeat the DSL Marlins 4-2. The D-Nats pitchers combined to limit the D-Marlins to just two runs on six hits, the only earned run coming on home run. Shortstop Wilmer Difo paced the nine-hit attack with two hits and a stolen base and turned a double play on defense.
