Programming Note

April and Sue are both hitting the road for vacations, and we know this will shock you… but we’re going to see some baseball along the way. With our foreign correspondent trekking through the hinterlands of Canada and Northern New England and yours truly heading down I-81 to see some Appy League action (really advance scouting?) in Tennessee and Southwestern Virginia, Internet access may not be so reliable. But we’ll do our best to keep the News and Notes afloat and hope to have some features for you as well.

About Luke Erickson

Luke Erickson is a season-ticket holder for the Potomac Nationals, but makes a point of seeing games in Hagerstown and Harrisburg at least once a summer. When the PNats are away on the weekend, Luke finds a minor-league game somewhere to watch, and generally attends 70-80 baseball games a year up across several states. A former sportswriter with newspapers in Massachusetts and Oregon, Luke lives in Western Fairfax County with his wife, two sons, and a bulldog.

Sue, isn’t the Appalaichin League the same level as the GCL. I read somwhere last year or two that Toronto was putting a team in both to help with development.

Is April going to sent video postcards from the Hudson Bay? :)

  2. Sue Dinem says:

Yes it is, but I’d have to say it’s probably a step beneath it because there are more older guys when you look at the rosters of the organizations that have multiple U.S.-based rookie teams (e.g. Baltimore, Atlanta, Cincinnati)

I’ll let April answer the other ?…
