AFL Update: Oct. 9, 2026

Salt River put up three in the first but was shut down until the 9th when the Rafters got a one-out double and two-out RBI single to walk off the Mesa Solar Sox, 4-3.

Four Washington minor-leaguers appeared in the game:

• Jorgelys Mota started in center field and batted cleanup, going 0-for-2 at the plate and getting three putouts and an outfield assist at 3B on defense.
• Teo Banks replaced Mota in the 6th and went 0-for-2 with two putouts.
• Kevin Bazzell was the #7 batter and catcher. He doubled and walked twice, including a two-out base-on-balls in the 9th, and threw out no baserunners in three attempts.
• Noah Dean struggled through an inning and 2/3rds, giving up a run on a hit, a walk, and a wild pitch. He also committed an error.

Salt River now leads the AFL with a 4-1 record and rides a three-game win streak. They’re home again this afternoon for the fourth time this week.
