The newest National (presuming he signs, natch) is Texas A&M SS Chris Hacopian, who posted a .319/.405/.578 line with 25 walks and 21 K’s in 42 games this season – his first since transferring from Maryland where he enjoyed in-state tuition close proximity to his hometown of Gaithersburg.
The bat is rated as a 60 on the 20-80 scale with a 50 grade for power. Given the Nats current crop of outfielders, it seems unlikely that he’ll be moved to LF, where his 40 speed, 45 glove, and 45 arm are usually hidden. He has played 3B and SS previously, but one has to wonder if 1B may be in his future.
