Rochester started the game, um, white hot and scored all five runs in the 1st and cruised to a 5-2 win over Worcester. Jackson Kent won for the third time in four AAA starts with a quality start of one run on a home run (two hits total) with one walk and seven whiffs over six innings. Seaver King homered with one out to start the rally, a two-run error extended the lead to 3-0, and Phillip Glasser capped it off with a two-run single. King added two more safeties and Andrew Pinckney rounded out the five-hit barrage with a single. Roster moves: RHP Bryce Montes de Oca released.

Caleb Lomavita’s two-run HR was an afterthought as the Senators were grounded by the Flying Squirrels, 7-2. Connor Van Scoyoc’s reversion to the mean continued with five runs allowed on eight hits (two homers) and a walk over three innings as he lost for the second time in four starts. Leandro Pineda doubled ahead of Lomavita while Cortland Lawson and Sam Brown both singled to account for Harrisburg’s four (4) hits. Four double plays offset the five walks issued by Richmond pitchers.

Eli Willits’s second HR broke a 2-2 tie and gave Wilmington a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the 7th. Brady Hill served up both the tying HR for his second blown save and the go-ahead big fly for the loss as the ‘Hoppers closed out the game with six outs in the space of seven batters for the 4-3 win. Riley Maddox turned in his second quality start with two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven. Willits also singled in the 9th to finish 3-for-5 while Ronny Cruz reached base three times on a walk and two singles to lead the Blue Rocks offense.

Gavin Fien tied up the game with two-run single in the 2nd, but it was all Kannapolis after that as the Cannon Ballers, um, exploded for 13 unanswered runs to blast the FredNats, 15-2. Leuris Portorreal took the brunt of the beating, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits over one-plus innings. He walked two and struck out none. Fien’s hit was the one conversion in 15 RISP chances as Fredericksburg left on 13 baserunners while collecting 11 hits and drawing four walks.
