The Red Wings rallied late with three in the 8th and one in the 9th but still lost, 9-6 and finished one game short of the first-half I.L. title, won by Memphis with a 10-8 win over Nashville. Jackson Kent was pecked by the Mud Hens for five runs on six hits (one HR) and a walk over three innings – his shortest AA outing thus far. Trey Lipscomb, Riley Adams, and Andrew Pinckney each hit a solo HR while Phillip Glasser emptied the bases with a three-run double for the one hit in 11 RISP chances, inflated by six walks issued by Toledo pitchers.

The Harrisburg offense remained AWOL, collecting four singles in another shutout by Erie, 5-0. Jared Simpson was the opener on a bullpen afternoon, putting up a goose egg in the 1st. Jhancarlos Lara was lit up for four runs on two hits and two walks in the 2nd and that was enough to wear the “L.” T.J. White was the sole Senator to reach base twice with a walk and a single coming off the bench to replace Sam Petersen who left with an ankle injury (jammed while trying to make pay at the fence) in the 2nd.

The Blue Rocks broke a 1-1 tie with four runs in the 8th to close out the series with a 5-1 sportswriter’s win. Eriq Swan got the start and got 10 outs on 44 pitches, allowing two hits, no walks, and sriking out three. Riley Maddox closed out the game with five innings of one-run ball to pick up the win. Jacob Walsh singled three times and drove in a run as did Eli Willits on his fifth HR to power the Wilmington offense.

Max Kranick subbed for an ailing DJ Herz as the MLB rehab and led a quintet of pitchers (average age: 25.6) that shut out Salem, 3-0 on three hits. Kranick threw 30 pitches, 20 for strikes over an inning and 2/3rds. Alex Young got the next four outs and was credited with the win. Jackson Dannelly walked two and struck out two in the 9th to earn the save. Gavin Fien homered twice while Coy James singled twice to lead the FredNats attack.
