Rochester’s ten-game win streak came to a halt with an 8-4 loss to Syracuse. Erik Tolman opened the game and put up a zero in the 1st and walked the leadoff batter in the 2nd before giving way to the orignally announced starter Chandler Champlain, who let in that run and five more of his own on seven hits and three walks over the next four frames to take the “L.” The Red Wings were limited to eight hits—all singles—with Joey Weimer, Phillip Glasser, and Christian “Hey It’s” Franlin collecting two apiece.

Reading 5 Harrisburg 1
• Luckham (L, 3-4) 5⅓ IP, 9H, 5R, 5ER, 2BB, 4K, BK
• Simpson ⅔ IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 2K, 1-0 IR-S
• Petersen 2-4, RBI
• Pineda 1-3, BB

The Fightins threw a knockout punch in the 1st round inning with four runs to which the Senators could only answer with a single run for a 5-1 loss. Kyle Luckham lost for the third time in the past four starts, giving up all five Reading runs on nine hits and two walks over five and a 1/3 innings. Sam Petersen extended his hit streak to six games and avoided the shutout with an RBI single in the 4th. The 23-y.o. Iowan has posted a .307/.398/.580 line thus far in May. Harrisburg mustered five hits total and walked three times while striking out 11 times.

Wilmington 7 Brooklyn 5
• Maddox (W, 3-4) 5IP, 3H, 4R, 3ER, 3BB, 7K, 2HBP
• Jimenez (H, 4) 2IP, 0H, 0R, 2BB, 1K

• Banks 2-3, 2B, SF, 3RBI, CS
• Petry 2-3, 2R, 2BB, 2B, SB

Wilmington put up crooked numbers in the 4th, 6th, and 7th innings to turn a 3-0 deficit into a 7-5 win. Riley Maddox muddled through five innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out seven. That was good enough to earn the win, his third. Teo Banks and Ethan Petry led the Blue Rocks offense, combining to go 4-for-6 with two runs (Petry), two doubles (one apiece), and three RBI (Banks).

Fredericksburg 11 Delmarva 9
• Tepper 4IP, 4H, 4R, 0ER, 1BB, 5K
• Beck (W, 2-2) 1⅓ IP, 1H, 3R, 3ER, 3BB, 1K, HR, HBP

• D. Tejeda 3-4, 2R, RBI, SB
• Willits 3-6, R, 3RBI, 3K, SB(25)
• James 2-4, 2R, 2BB, HR, RBI
• Jones 1-4, R, HR, 3RBI

The FredNats outlasted the Shorebirds to win an 11-9 slugfest. Mike Tepper made it through four innings with four unearned runs allowed on four hits and a walk and five whiffs. Jared Beck was the pitcher of record after Fredericksburg scored five in the 9th to break a 6-6 tie and did what he could to give it back, but fell two runs short despite giving up a two-run HR, hitting a batter, and walking three. Jack Moroknek, working on six weeks’ rest, came on to give the ‘pen a breather and got the last two outs while allowing an inherited runner to score for his first career save. Dashyll Tejeda singled three and Eli Willits both singled three times while Coy James and Sir Jamison Jones both homered to lead the Fredericksburg offense. Roster moves: 1B Jacob Walsh activated from the 7-Day I.L.
