Happy Holidays

A year ago today, I got a call from my wife about a bulldog she wanted to “foster for two weeks.” After losing two dogs in 2024—one to cancer, the other to old age—we had thought we were going to be taking a long break from having pets.

That lasted a little more than four months, as this then-85-now-100-lb goober walked right in and stole our hearts.

He’s roughly nine years old now. His health isn’t perfect. But we had decided that we would be the ones to adopt the older, bigger dogs that too often are left behind. Thus, we accept that his time with us may not be as long as it has been with our other dogs.

So in that spirit, I wish you all Happy Holidays. Enjoy them with the people you wish to be with – they may even be your relatives! Stay safe, stay sane, and if you get behind the wheel, stay sober. In the immortal words of William Shatner, “Don’t drink and drive. Do one or the other.”
