Rochester Red Wings, 10-27, 10th place I.L. East, 16GB
The Red Wings return home to host the Bulls for five night games and a Sunday matinee after another two-win series. Yesterday, Cade Cavalli was activated from Washington’s 15-day I.L. and optioned, a procedural move that only means that the Nationals were unwilling to activate him after his 30-day rehab period was over.
Harrisburg Senators, 17-16, 2nd place E.L. Southwest, 4GB
Harrisburg gained no ground but got over .500 with a 4-2 series win over Richmond. The Senators are now the #3 offense (4.88 R/G) and have the 4th-best pitching (4.12 R/G) in the Eastern League and are actually two games below their pythagorean projection. This week, they’re in Altoona with an 11am game tomorrow and night games the rest of the series.
Wilmington Blue Rocks, 10-23, 6th place Sally Lg. North, 13½ GB
As expected, the Blue Rocks were steamrolled by the Renegades, 5-1, and are on a five-game skid. They remain home this week to take on the BlueClaws for six, with matinees tomorrow and Sunday.
Fredericksburg Nationals, 15-17, 4th Place C.L. North, 7GB
Fredericksburg fell two games further off the pace with 2-4 showing against Lynchburg, the last four losses in a row. If the FredNats are to make a run at the first half title, they’re going to need to follow the lead of Harrisburg and make hay against last-place Delmarva this week and next month.
FCL Nationals vs. FCL Mets – PPD
Yesterday was the first rainout for the F-Nats. They’ll make it up on Friday when they visit the F-Mets in Port St. Lucie. Meawnwhile, Jose Feliz was named FCL Pitcher of the Week for May 5-11 as the 19-y.o. tossed eight shutout innings across two starts, with three hits allowed, 12 strikeouts, and no walks.
