Cade Cavalli’s struggles continued with a meltdown during the second turn through the lineup, as he wild-pitched in one run, loaded the bases on two walks and Robles, and then surrendered a grand slam. He was lifted with two outs in the 3rd with five runs (all earned) allowed on three hits and three walks while striking out two. The Red Wings ‘pen held serve as did tbe RailRiders until the 8th, when Daylen Lile plated the free runner with an RBI single to take a 6-5 lead. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre got the tying run on a pair of singles and then issued an IBB to load the bases. A called third strike was the first out but a tapper to short was hit too slowly to turn two, never mind that it sailed high and wide of first base to score the game-winner.

In the nightcap, Rochester used the longball to score four runs and some smallball to win it. A bunt single by Robert Hassell followed by an RBI double by Trey Lipscomb in the 7th proved to be the difference as the Red Wings held on for a 5-4 win to split the doubleheader. Chase Solesky went the first four innings and allowed two solo HRs and six hits total while walking none and striking out six. Jack Sinclair gave back one run in the 5th but was credited with the win. Likewise for Patrick Weigel in the 7th for the save. Daylen Lile and Juan Yepez both singled and homered to lead the Rochester offense. Roster moves: RHP Zach Brzykcy recalled to Washington.

Riley Cornelio threw six shutout innings in his AA debut, but saw his 2-0 lead vanish with a four-run 8th on a pair of homers as Richmond doubled up Harrisburg, 4-2. Ivan Armstrong suffered the blown-save-loss with the aforementioned four runs allowed on three hits and a Robles in the 8th. The Senators put the tying runs on in the 9th but Carlos De La Cruz’s deep flyball died on the warning track. Joe Naranjo and Yoyo Morales both went 2-for-4 to Harrisburg’s six-hit, two-walk offense. Roster moves: RHP Jarlin Susana placed on the 7-Day I.L.

The Blue Rocks got a runner to third three times but could only get two wild pitches to score them as the Renegades tied the game with two in the 3rd and won the game with three in the 10th, 5-2. Bryan Cáceres got the spot start and gave up the first two runs on four hits and two walks over two and a 1/3rd innings. Thomas Schultz took the loss as he let in three runs in the 10th and allowed three hits and a walk over an inning and 2/3rds. Johnathon Thomas singled twice and doubled once. Matt Suggs doubled, walked, and scored a run. The rest of the lineup went 1-for-28 with nine K’s and four walks.

The Force was not strong with Fredericksburg on Star Wars Night and neither was starter Angel Roman as Lynchburg took its third straight, 7-2. Roman let in five runs (three earned) on seven hits (one HR) and a walk over five innings to take his third loss. Jackson Ross was the sole FredNat with multiple hits as he went 2-for-4 while Jorgelys Mota and Kevin Bazzell both reached base twice with a single and a walk to lead the Fredericksburg offense.

The F-Nats ended the Star Trek convention on the CACTI Park scoreboard with two runs in 8th then added two more in the 9th. Alas, a 4-0 lead was too small for the bullpen to hold, as two relievers combined to cough up four runs in the 9th to force extras. After a two-run HR by Eyeksson Rojas put the F-Nats up 6-4, the ‘pen handed over its beer and two more runs to send it to the 11th at 6-6. After the F-Nats went in order in their half, the F-Astros ended it with a one-out single in its half for the 7-6 win. Roster moves: C Jermaine Maricuto released.
