An eight-run 6th broke open a 3-1 game as the Nats blasted the Cards, 12-1 on Thursday afternoon.
Michael Soroka struck out six while allowing the lone St. Louis run on four hits over four innings to pick up the “win.” Brad Lord added two goose eggs in the 5th and 6th, facing the minimum while issuing a walk and striking out none.
Dylan Crews led off and played right field. He walked twice and singled to lower his spring BA to .368. The rest of the watchlisters came off the bench:
- Daylen Lile took over for Amed Rosario in LF and reached base twice on a walk and an RBI single.
- Yoyo Morales pinch-ran for Nathaniel Crews and scored ahead of a Paul DeJong homer.
- Robert Hassell pinch-hit for Amed Rosatrio at the plate and went 1-for-2 and replaced Jacob Young in CF.
- Andrew Pinckney replaced Crews in RF and was 0-for-1.
- Cayden Wallace subbed for Trey Lipscomb at 2B and was 0-for-1 with a run scored.
- Brady House Took over 3B from DeJong and singled in the 9th.
The Nats return to West Palm Beach to host the Mets on Friday night. Trevor Williams is expected to start for the third time this spring. The game can heard locally on 980AM.
