Salt River Wins AFL Championship

Surprise: The Sagauros were upset in the AFL title game by the Rafters, 3-2, giving a Washington-fed team its first title since 2010.

Dustin Saenz (pictured) got the start and allowed one run on two hits and three walks. He did not strike out a batter while throwing 56 pitches and 32 strikes. The 25-y.o. Texan was credited with the win.

Robert Hassell started in centerfield and went 1-for-4 with a triple and a run scored. On defense, he had one putout and fielded three singles.

That’s all for the 2024 season, our 14th covering the Nats minors (15th if you count 2020). A shoutout to Jerry for pinch-hitting for Lee. We’re now officially into the ’24-’25 offseason.

In a couple of days, we’ll learn who the Nats decided to protect from next month’s Rule 5 Draft, which Mr. Boss broke down last week.
