AFL Update: Oct. 13, 2024

Salt River jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the 1st and never trailed as the Rafters trampled the Saguaros, 14-1.

Robert Hassell started in centerfield, where he had three putouts and fielded two singles. At the plate he doubled twice, scored once, and drove in two. He also took one off the helmet (pictured right or below), which worked as designed and kept him both upright and in the game.

Chase Solesky (pictured above) made his second appearance in relief as the third Salt River reliever and scattered four hits over two scoreless innings. He threw 32 pitches, 21 for strikes.

Luke Young (pictured below) worked a 1-2-3 eighth inning in his second AFL outing, sandiwiching a strikeout between two flyouts.

The Rafters have today and tomorrow off. They’ll rematch the Saguaros in Surprise on Tuesday night.
