Rochester Red Wings, 17-18, 5th place I.L. East, 8½ GB
Rochester won just twice against first-place Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to fall two games further back in the division and below .500 for the season. This week, the Red Wings host the third-place Bisons for six with five night games and a Sunday afternoon tilt. James Wood was named International League Player of the Week for May 6-12 after going 10-for22 with 5HR and 12RBI against the league-leading Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. It’s the second POTW won by a RedWing and the fourth for the Washington system this season.

Harrisburg Senators, 19-13, 3rd Place E.L. Southwest, 1½ GB
The Senators return home after taking four of six from the Fisher Cats to edge within a game and a half of 1st place. It’s seven this week against the Seawolves, including a doubleheader tomorrow morning.

Wilmington Blue Rocks, 15-16, 6th place, Sally Lg. North, 4GB
Wilmington lost all six to a streaking Jersey Shore to fall below .500 for the first time this season. This is more in line with the team’s -34 run differential, which suggests a 12-19 record. The Blue Rocks hose Aberdeen for six this week with a matinee on Wednesday.

Fredericksburg Nationals, 22-11, 2nd place, C.L. North, 1GB
A strong bullpen and plenty of offense have been covering for starters who can’t go more than four innings or allow less than three runs and less-than-stellar defense. Still, despite scoring nearly six runs a game, the FredNats can’t seem to catch the MudCats in the standings. This week, they remain in South Carolina, heading to the Redneck Riviera for six against the Pelicans, including a nooner tomorrow.

FCL Mets 10 FCL Nationals 4
• C. Sanchez 5IP, 5H, 3R, 3ER, 1BB, 2K, HR
• R. Ramirez (BS, 1; L, 0-1) 2IP, 4H, 5R, 3ER, 4BB, 0K, BK
• Ju. Garcia 2-4, R
• Mojica 2-4, R, 2B, 2E

The FCL Nationals rallied for four in the 5th to take a 4-3 lead but did not get the rainstorm necessary to stop the game after five and 1/2 innings. Instead, the F-Nats relievers were lit up for seven runs for a 10-4 loss to the F-Mets. Camilo Sanchez made his second start and went five full innings, allowing three runs on five hits (one HR) and a walk while striking out two. The (dreaded) blown-save-loss went to Reilin Ramirez with five runs let in (three earned) on four hits and and four walks over two innings.
