In the opener, Drew Millas drove in two in the 1st but that would be all as the Red Wings failed in their next six RISP chances to drop this one to the Bisons, 4-2. Spenser Watkins took the loss, giving up all four Buffalo runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five over four and 2/3rds innings. Nash Walters got the last out of the 5th and put up two goose eggs to finish the game. Erick Mejia and Jack Dunn led the Rochester hit column with two singles apiece.

In the nightcap, DJ Herz walked only one batter and struck out a season-high eight over five scoreless innings in a 2-1 Rochester win that split the doubleheader. Amos Willingham earned his fifth holed with a goose egg in the 6th while Rico Garcia lost the shutout with a solo HR in the 7th to get the rulebook save. Trey Lipscomb and Juan Yepez both went 2-for-3 while Carter Kieboom’s sac fly in the bottom of the 6th proved to be the gamewinner. UT Jake Alu placed on the 7-Day I.L.

Dylan Crews’s RBI single in the 3rd was the one hit in ten RISP chances as the Seawolves edged the Senators, 4-3. Starter Michael Cuevas gave up three runs over five innings on four hits and two walks in a no-decision. The loss went to Lucas Knowles with an “assist” to Holden Powell, who walked the first batter he faced then let in his inherited runner on a single to the second batter. Andrew Pinckney singled and homered; Jackson Cluff singled twice; Robert Hassell and Yoyo Morales both had a double to round out the Harrisburg hit column.

Branden Boisserie’s one-out single in the 10th plated the free runner for a 4-3 win, the fourth straight for Wilmington. Jose Atencio turned in five innings of two-run ball on six hits (one HR) and a walk in his High-A debut. After Viandel Peña’s RBI single put the Blue Rocks up 3-2, Marquis Grissom gave the lead back by giving up an RBI double to the first batter he faced with two outs in the 8th. He finished the game with scoreless frames in the 9th and 10th and would get the win. Wilmington left on 10 runners and went just 3-for-15 with RISP.

The Pelicans got to Marc Davis for four runs in the 2nd, including a three-run HR as the FredNats were doubled up, 8-4 to lose for the third time in four games. Davis gave up three hits, three walks, and four runs over three innings to suffer his first loss in seven starts. The bullpen didn’t fare much better as Mason Denaburg let in three runs and Matt Bollenbacher gave up one. Brenner Cox singled, doubled, and stole his fifth base while Gavin Dugas homered and drove in two to lead the Fredericksburg offense. LHP Franklin Marquez placed on the full-season I.L.

The FCL Nationals blew leads of 1-0, 4-2, and 6-4 before putting up four in the 5th to take the lead for good and held off the FCL Astros for an 11-9 win. Camilo Sanchez threw for two and a 1/3rd innings and let in eight runs on seven hits (two HR) while walking three, striking out three, hitting a batter, and throwing two wild pitches. The win went to Reilin Ramirez as the pitcher of record when the F-Nats went ahead and stayed ahead. The FCL Nationals marched to an 11-hit parade with Yoander Rivero and Nate Rombach both going deep for the first time this season.
