Rochester broke a 1-1 tie with a Drew Millas HR and an RBI single by James Wood and held off a late charge by St. Paul to win, 3-2 in the opener. Thad Ward walked four and hit a batter but only gave up one run over five innings. He struck out three. Amos Willingham wobbled in the 7th, allowing a double and two singles to let in the second Saints run and put the tying and winning runs on base with two out before getting a flyball to end it and secure the win. Darren Baker led the Red Wings hit parade with three singles while Travis Blankenhorn doubled and Juan Yepez had an RBI single.

The Red Wings blew a 7-1 lead in the 5th but got back one in the 6th and held it for an 8-7 win to sweep the doubleheader. Joan Adon, who hasn’t had an ERA under 4.00 since 2019 (3.86 @ Low-A), gave up six runs on six hits and three walks in four-plus innings while striking out two. Richard Bleier and Rico Garcia both worked around single in one inning of work to earn the win and save, respectively. James Wood singled three times and swiped two bases to extend his hit streak to seven games while Jack Dunn and Travis Blankenhorn plated two apiece to pace the Rochester offense. Dylan Crews emerged from witness protection after what was decribed by the Erie broadcast team as a hamstring issue. Crews nevertheless beat out an infield single in the 1st and then struck out three times before Cody Wilson was inserted as a pinch hitter in the top of the 9th strike out for him and/or play defense in the bottom of the 9th. Meanwhile, Kyle Luckham notched his first AA win with six innings of one-run ball on three hit and two walks while striking out two in a 3-1 Senators victory. Yoyo Morales and Dérmis Garcia both went 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Harrisburg offense. Nash Walters stranded two in the 7th and then marooned the Seawolves in the 8th and 9th to earn the save, his second of the season.

Brendan Collins came on with the bases loaded and two out and served up a two-run double to the first batter he faced to put Wilnington into a 4-2 hole that it couldn’t dig out from for a 4-3 loss. Rodney Theophile took the “L,” charged with all four Cyclones runs on six hits and three walks over four and 2/3rds innings. He set down five on strikes. The Blue Rocks squeezed three runs from four hits and two walks despite 11 whiffs. John McHenry connected the Blue Rocks’ sole extra-base hit while T.J. White, Paul Witt, and Johnathan Thomas each had a single to round out the Wilmington hit column. Roster moves: IF Philip Glasser promoted from Fredericksburg.

FredNats rallied for three in the 8th to break a 4-4 tie for the third and final lead change in a 7-5 win over the Shorerbirds. Marc Davis turned in his obligatory three innings of work this week, dinged with a two-run HR and four hits total while walking one and fanning one. Bubba Hall got the dreaded blown-save-win with two runs let in on three hits over two innings without a walk or a whiff. Thomas Schultz gave up a run on a home run in the 8th but finished the game with the lead intact for his fourth save.
