Alex Call hit a grand slam in the 9th to make this closer than it really was as the Mud Hens clipped the Red Wings, 9-5. Thad Ward needed 70 pitches to get nine outs, as he allowed one run on two hits and three walks over three innings. He struck out two. Toledo took a 6-1 lead with four in the 7th, then extended it to 9-1 before Call cashed in Carter Kieboom’s second single and back-to-back walks by Jack Dunn and Onix Vega. Travis Blankenhorn homered in the 5th to get Rochester on the board.

Richmond’s four-run 2nd put this one away early as they downed Harrisburg, 6-1. Brad Lord took the loss, his first at AA, with five runs allowed (four earned) on eight hits, including a three-run HR. He walked two and struck out six over four innings. Not that it mattered all that much since the Senators managed just one hit by a minor-leaguer (Yoyo Morales) and two from an MLB rehab (Stone Garrett) and were unable to take advantage of eight walks drawn to leave twelve runners on base.

Kevin Made extended his hitting streak to eight games with a double to cap off a three-run 7th for Wilmington as the Blue Rocks stalled the Drive, 6-4. Riley Cornelio won his first game with five innings of two-run ball on two hits and four walks. He struck out seven. Marquis Grissom notched the save though he gave up a run on two hits in the 9th. Wilmington used three sacrifices to help squeeze six runs out of five hits and four walks, with Viandel Peña (walk, single) and John McHenry (two walks) both reaching base twice.

A first-inning grand slam from 23-y.o. NDFA Brandon Pimentel and a strong bullpen effort led the FredNats to a 5-2 win over the Woodpeckers. Starter Marc Davis, who missed 2023 with… wait for it… elbow surgery, no-hit Fayetteville for three innings. He walked two and struck out three. Miguel Gomez got the win with a run let in on two doubles and a Robles while walking none and fanning one. Phillip Glasser also went deep while Gavin Dugas reached base three times with two singles and a walk.
