Nats’ Skid Now Four after 4-1 Loss to Marlins

In the second half of the de facto doubleheader wasn’t as messy, but it wasn’t much prettier as the Marlins handed the Nats their fourth straight loss last night, 4-1.

[Ed. Note – Insert graf about spring training results being meaningless. Reminder: This to be used only when things go poorly]

Dylan Crews (CF), Trey Lipscomb (2B), and Jacob Young (RF) were all starters. The trio combined for three singles, one stolen base (Young), and five strikeouts.

As per usual, the Nats are still focused on finding relievers from the menagerie of AAAA’s and NRI’s. Thus, only DJ Herz appeared in the game, working around a single in the 9th without issuing a walk (!) and striking out one.

2022 12th Rd. Pick Nick Peoples was the only substitute to get a hit, a two-out triple ahead of Joey Meneses’s double that broke up the shutout in the 7th.

Armando Cruz (SS) and Brenner Cox (RF) both struck out in their sole at-bat as did Cody “Still Got the Polaroids” Wilson (CF). Brady House (3B) grounded out and Israel Pineda (C) flew out in their sole plate appearance.

This afternoon, the Nats head back to the Gulf Coast to visit the Twins in Ft. Myers. Joan Adon is expected to start. The game can be heard on MLB Radio (Twins feed).
