Happy Holidays

It’s National Mathematics Day for those who aren’t non-plussed, National Short Person for the down-to-earth, the Friday before Christmas for those who celebrate, and the Winter Solstice for us in the Northern Hemisphere.

The latter probably is the ray of hope that I’ll choose to focus on, what with two major wars raging in Europe and the Middle East and an upcoming, reach-for-the-bottle* presidential election that, at best, is a rematch of 2020, at worst an echo of 1933.* Tums or rum. Both is an acceptable answer

Every day after today will have just a little more sunlight than the day before, which means we’re one day closer to spring.

According to AAA, more than 115 million people will travelling during the holidays. That’s nearly as many as 2019, which was a record year.

Thus, my annual exhortation remains in place: Stay safe, stay sane, and stay sober if you decide to get behind the wheel. As William Shatner once said “Don’t drink and drive – do one or the other.”
