The Red Wings found the right bullpen combo as five relievers combined for four scoreless inning to cinch a 2-1 win over the RailRiders. Alemao Hernandez earned his first AAA win with the lone Scranton/Wilkes-Barre run allowed on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out seven. The save went to Gerson Moreno with a (*gasp*) 1-2-3 ninth, following Luis Reyes, Tim Cate, Amos Willingham, and Joe La Sorsa who each earned a hold and put the tying run on (without letting it score, natch). Jeter Downs went 3-for-4 at the plate and 2-for-3 making it to second safely on those hits. Richie Martin also had three hits while Brady Lindsly and Darren Baker each had an RBI single. Roster moves: RHP Junior Fernández assigned from Washington (released by Buffalo, 8/22); RHP Luis Cessa released; C Onix Vega reassigned from Harrisburg; 1B-DH Matt Adams placed on the 7-Day I.L.

Binghamton 1 Harrisburg 0

• Knowles (L, 4-2) 1IP, 1H, 1R, 1ER, 2BB, 1K
• Wood 1-2, 2BB
• Cluff 1-2, 2BB, 2B, CS(5)

Harrisburg’s offensive woes continued with yet another shutout, this one by a 1-0 count on four (4) hits. Dustin Saenz thus had six shutout innings result in a no-decision with four hits and a walk while fanning five. The loss went to Lucas Knowles with a walk and a double in the 7th. Donovan Casey took over for Dylan Crews in RF after the Nats #1 prospect got on first base the hard way. The Senators would have a baserunner in every inning and got five of them into scoring position, two all the way to third base, but were 0-for-5 with RISP. Jsckson Cluff had the sole extra-base hit (double) and walked twice as did James Wood with a single to lead the Sens barrage. Roster moves: RHP Odalvi Javier placed on the Development List; RHP José Mujica reassigned from Rochester to Harrisburg; C Wilmer Perez reassigned from Fredericksburg.

The Blue Rocks built an early 6-0 lead and got five solid innings from the bullpen to double up the Renegades, 6-3. Thad Ward made his second rehab start and was dinged for all three Hudson Valley runs on four hits (one HR) and two walks over four-plus innings. Dannel Díaz cleaned up Ward’s mess in the 5th and put up another goose egg in the 6th to get the “W,” his third. Matt Merrill matched him for the hold while Todd Peterson set the side down in order in the 9th for the save. Daylen Lile walked, tripled, singled, and drove in two while Yohandy Morales singled walked and scored twice to lead the Wilmington offense.

• M. Romero 3-4, 3R, 2HR, 2RBI
• Vaquero 2-4, SB

Max Romero Jr. walked ’em off with his second HR of the night as the Fredericksburg bettered Lynchburg, 4-3. Travis Sthele started and dug another hole, this one for three runs on six hits and a walk over three and a 1/3rd innings. Kevin Rodriguez stuck to the script of the night and stranded a runner while getting out of the 4th and then threw three scoreless innings. Marquis Grissom Jr. added two more goose eggs and picked up the win. Romero also singled and scored three times while Christhian Vaquero singled twice and stole a base to power the FredNats attack. Roster moves: C Geraldi Diaz reassigned from Wilmington.
