Harrisburg climbed out of a three-run hole dug by Cole Henry and held on for a 6-5 win in the series opener. Henry faced eight batters in an inning plus, giving up a two-run HR and four hits total. He walked two and struck out two while throwing 43 pitches. The win went to new pickyup Nash Walters, who put up two goose eggs in the middle innings. Tyler Schoff cordero’d around two singles by rolling a DP to end the game and earn his third AA save. Jacob Young’s Earl Weaver Special tied things up at 3-3, Lucius Fox’s 1st HR for the Sens did the same at 4-4 while Trey Lipscomb’s 5th HR put Harrisburg up for good at 5-4. Fox beat out a suicide squeeze for the insurance run that proved to be necessary after Odalvi Javier was taken deep in the 8th.

After six innings, it was 2-0 in favor of the Cyclones. The Blue Rocks won the battle of which bullpen could suck less, giving up seven runs over the last four vs. all of Wilmington’s, which emerged an 11-9 winner in 10 innings. Bryan Cáceres finally pitched more innings (5) than runs allowed (2) in his fourth High-A start, allowing six hits and a walk while striking out four. Holden Powell pitched a scoreless 9th but was dinged for two runs (one earned) in the 10th but didn’t lose the four-run lead built by Viandel Peña’s fourth hit and Jeremy De La Rosa’s fifth HR.

Jarlin Susana reverted to the mean… hard, as Myrtle Beach got to him for three runs in the 1st en route to an 11-6 beating of Fredericksburg. Susana was actually allowed two more pitches than Washington’s reported 30-pitch limit for an inning, which enabled him to get his one and only strikeout after putting the first five baserunners on base before a tapper to the mound and his third walk. Matt Merrill was the only reliever not to give up a run as the first three gave up eight runs of which only four were earned “thanks” to three errors. Wilmer Perez and Roismar Quintana clogged the bases five times with four singles and a walk to lead the FredNats’ nine-hit, four-walk offense.

The F-Mets broke a 5-5 tie with a three-run 6th and added an insurance run in the 7th to take this one, 9-5/ Jefrem Leon was strafed for five runs on eight hits, including two HRs while walking two and striking out three over three and 2/3rds. The loss went to Miguel Gomez with three runa let in on three hits and a walk over two and 1/3rd innings. Jorgelys Mota and Everett Cooper both had three singles to account for six of the FCL Nationals’ 11 hits and two of the four errors committed. Roster moves: RHP Tyler Dyson released.
