The Red Wings rallied for two in the 9th to tie it at 4-4 then gave ’em right back on a two-run, walkoff HR to lose, 6-4. Anthony Banda got knocked from the box in his sixth start, giving up three runs on five hits (one HR), no walks, and striking out five. The loss went to Tyler Danish, who couldn’t put up a donut in either the 8th or 9th as he let in the final three runs on two hits and two walks. Nomar Mazara drove in the equalizing runs for Rochester with the second of his two singles. He also tripled and scored twice. Jake Noll and Alex call both doubled twice. The trio accounted for seven of the nine hits as the Red Wings. Roster moves: C Wilmer Perez reassigned from Fredericksburg.

Harrisburg’s three-game win streak came to a halt with a 4-2 loss to Altoona. Michael Cuevas took the loss, his third, as he was, um, railroaded for three runs on two solo HRs and hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded as the Curve got all three runs in his fifth and final innings. He walked two and struck out four. The Senators avoided the shutout with four walks in the 8th as Altoona’s Tahnaj Thomas did his best imitation of Mason Denaburg. Onix Vega doubled while Jack Dunn’s bases-loaded single only plated one as J.T. Arruda was thrown out at home trying to score what would have been the tying run. Altoona got one run back in the 9th and neither Donovan Casey nor Vega could convert a one-out walk into another run. Roster moves: RHP Patrick Ruotolo assigned from Washington (MLFA, released August 2022).

The Blue Rocks’ three-game win streak went buh-bye in an 8-2 loss to the Renegades. Andrew Alvarez didn’t make it out of the 5th in his second loss as the southpaw was strafed for nine hits and five runs (three earned) over four and a 1/3rd innings. He walked one and struck out four. Wilmington left on 12 basreunners while going just 2-for-12 with RISP and striking out 18 times as a team. Caleb Farmer and Nick Shumpert both went 2-for-4 to lead the Blue Rocks hit column. Roster moves: 2B Darren Baker MiLB transferred from FCL.

After short Marvel Movie delay (i.e., just 2 hours and 24 minutes), Salem jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st but Fredericksburg answered with four in the 4th and held on for the third straight win, 6-3. Brad Lord weathered the early onslaught to go the requisite five and settle down after the three-run HR to finish with four hits and one walk allowed and five whiffs. Matt Merrill and Marquis Grissom Jr. both turned in two scoreless to earn the hold and save, respectively. Roismar Quintana led the FredNats hit column with two singles while Christopher De La Cruz doubled in two runs as Frederickeburg squeezed six runs from five hits and four walks.

With two fewer chances to blow the lead, the DSL Nationals won their second game by a 4-1 count in a seven-inning game. Leuris Portorreal gave up the lone D-Giants Black run on a HR and five hits total over four innings. The 17-y.o. walked two and struck out two. 19-y.o. Angel Roman picked up the win with two and 2/3rds scoreless relief, with an assist (save) by 19-y.o. Doimil Perez, who got a three-pitch whiff to end the game.
