When a position player is your third-best reliever, you know it was a bad night for the Red Wings. Luis Cessa picked up where he left off with the Isotopes and got nuked for six runs on four hits (one HR) and two walks over two innings. He struck out one. Franmil Reyes and Jacob Nottingham both homered to account for all three Rochester runs. They both appeared on the mound in the 9th with Reyes throwing to seven batters before the two switched places at 1B and Nottingham giving up back-to-back singles before getting a flyout and a double play ball to get out of the inning without a 20th run scoring. Roster moves: RHP Tyler Beck reassigned from Harrisburg; LHP Anthony Banda placed on the Development List; 2B Darren Baker activated from the 7-Day I.L.; RHP Joan Adon recalled to Washington; LHP Joe LaSorsa optioned from Washington; OF Derek Hill outrighted from Washington.

Terone Harris’s two-out double in the 9th sent it to extras while Donovan Casey’s leadoff double in the 10th proved to be the game-winner as Harrisburg edged Akron, 3-2. Alex Troop turned in his best outing as a pro with seven scoreless innings with no walks and seven strikeouts while allowing six hits. Of course, it was a no-decision. Malvin Peña blew his second save with two runs in the bottom of the 8th. Odalvi Javier worked around two baserrunners in the 9th with an assist from Jacob Young, who threw out a RubberDuck committing the cardinal sin of baserunning by making the third out at third base, and issued walk in the 10th before rolling a game-ending double play. Robert Hassell led the Senator hit colum with two singles while Frankie Tostado got the scoring started with his 9th HR.

Cody Wilson lost the third out of the 9th in the lights and the Cylcones took advantage to hit a three-run HR to to turn a would-be 1-0 win into a 3-1 loss, the seventh straight loss for the Blue Rocks. Of course, it might have helped if Wilmington had been able to able to muster more than four singles on offense. Starter Rodney Theophile tossed four scoreless, allowing three hits, one walk, and a Robles while striking out one. The loss went to Todd Peterson on the aforementioned HR after a single and a walk in the 9th while striking out nobody. Wilson drove in the lone Wilmington run on a sacrifice fly and singled to lead off the 9th but was thrown out at third two batters later as José Sánchez and Jared McKenzie both struck out to account for the Blue Rocks’ 0-for-2 mark with RISP.

Fredericksburg broke open a 1-0 game with a three-run 6th and then turned it into a no-doubter with a five-run 9th as the FredNats plucked the Shorebirds, 10-1. Brad Lord picked up his third win with five scoreless innings, allowing three hits, no walks, and striking out two. Kevin Rodriguez lost the shutout on a solo HR in the 9th but earned third hold. Paul Witt was the beer man in Fredericksburg’s 14-hit parade, led by Max Romero with two singles, two doubles, and three RBI, followed by Daylen Lile with a single, triple, and two RBI.

The wheels came off the bus for the F-Nats as the F-Mets got six in the 5th to turn a 3-1 deficit into 7-3 lead. The FCL Nationals reclaimed the lead with a five-run top of the 6th but gave it right back with four in the bottom of the 6th. The F-Nats loaded the bases with one out in the 7th and plated one on an infield single but Murphy Stehly struck out looking to end it. Bryan Polanco went the first four and let in one runs on three hits and one walk while striking out one. Johan Otanez pushed his streak of batters faced without an out to 12 as he put on eight runners he faced with two hits, three walks, two (presumably bad) fielder’s choices and a hit batsman. Josue Carmona let in one of three while getting out of 5th and then let in four of his own in the 6th to get the loss. 20-y.o. Elisel Santana drive in five with a three-run HR and a two-run single while 18-y.o. Jorgelys Mota reached base three times on a single, double, and a walk to lead the FCL Nationals offense.

DSL Nationals won their third game (out of 23!), 4-1. The two teams combined for five runs, five hits, four errors, and 11 walks. Henry Moreno got the start and went three and 2/3rds innings, allowing an unearned run on one hit and four walks while striking out three. Enyerber Rivero walked two but retired the other five batters faced. Angel Roman got the last 10 outs to pick up his second save. The D-Nats tied the game at 1-1 on a fielder’s choice and took the lead on an error on a stolen-base attempt. In the 7th, Andy Acevedo doubled in two with a triple to score the third and fourth runs on the fourth and final D-Nats hit.
