The Red Wings sent 11 men to the plate and six of them crossed the plate in the 6th as they took the series finale, 8-2 and the series, 4-2. Rochester starter Wily Peralta turned in five innings of two-run ball on five hits and a walk while striking out seven, but came away with a no-decision. Luis Reyes got the “W” (hs fourth) with two perfect innings. Derek Hill extended his hit streak to 10 games with two singles and a double while Jacob Nottingham reached base three times and drove in four with a two-run double and a two-run homer to lead the Rochester offense.

Bowie erased a 3-1 Harrisburg lead with a three-spot in the bottom of the 6th and threatened in each of the final three “ups” – including an ill-advised attempt by Jackson Cluff to score from 1st base on a two-out single to left to end the game. The BaySox won the game, 4-3 and took the series, 5-1. Alemao Hernandez gave up all four Bowie runs (two earned) on six hits (one HR), but lost for the 6th time. He walked none and struck out three. Terone Harris doubled twice and scored once while Robert Hassell homered to lead the Senators offense, which flailed to an 0-8 mark with RISP and left on five.

The Grasshoppers mined (minted?) the Blue Rocks for four in the 1st and four in the 5th as they took the series, 4-2 and game, 8-1. Kyle Luckham lasted two more outs but gave up three more runs in his second try against Greensboro, allowing eight runs (six earned) on seven hits (one HR) and four walks for his third loss. Daylen Lile broke up the no-hitter with a leadoff double while Murphy Stehly spoiled the shutout bid with his first High-A HR in the 7th.

Fredericksburg’s offense was firing on all cylinders as the FredNats collected 17 hits without a beer man to earn a series split with a 17-4 smackdown. Luke Young got the start but was lifted after 40 pitches and just five batters retired. He allowed two runs on two hits and stuck out three. The win went to Kevin Rodriguez with two runs let in on four hits (one HR) over three and a 1/3rd. He walked none and struck out three. Johnathan Thomas singled twice, doubled twice, and walked once while Armando Cruz and Maxwell Romero Jr. both went deep.
FCL Nationals, 14-15, 3rd Place FCL East, 5GB
The F-Nats won three of four last week and are hovering near .500 despite a -24 run differential. Sample sizes remain small, but the team’s leading hitter is Jose Colmenares, a 20-y.o. C/1B who’s repeating the level and sporting a 1.109 OPS in 12G. On the hill, Jefrem Leon’s 3.53 FIP leads the team with 26K and 4BB in 15⅓ IP.

Thanks to last Monday’s rainout, the DSL Nationals play five straight games today through Friday. Figuring out who’s the best hitter and pitcher is not hard. 17-y.o. Carlos Batista is the only batter with an OPS greater than the Lg. Avg at .802 (.732) while 19-y.o. LHP Angel Roman’s 3.19 FIP and 2.81 ERA are significantly lower than the next-best in both categories (Leuris Portorreal, 3.71; Ramon Cuevas, 4.24).
