Kevin Plawecki went deep with one out in the 9th to give the Red Wings another 2-1 win over the Saints. Paolo Espino got the spot start and tossed four scoreless innings. Tommy Romero went the next three and 2/3rds, giving up St. Paul’s run on five hits and two walks. Luis Reyes stranded a runner while getting out of the 8th and worked around a leadoff single and a two-out walk. The 28-y.o. got his first AAA win in his 22nd AAA appearance. No curse of the GBI for Darren Baker, who reached base three times with a single, double, and a walk and stole two bases. Nomar Mazara provided the other Rochester run with a solo shot in the 4th. Harrisburg and Somerset traded two-spots in the 1st, then traded zeroes until the top of the 6th. That’s when the Patriots got the deciding run on a two-out walk, a steal, then a single to take the opener, 3-2. Alex Troop got the start and turned in five innings of two-run ball on five hits and two walks. He fanned one (1). Reid Schaller took the loss with the aforementioned run in the 6th. Donovan Casey plated both runs with a homer in the 1st but couldn’t drive in the equalizer in the 7th after Will Frizzell singled with two outs and pinch-runner Jack Dunn stole second.

After falling behind 4-1, the Senators rallied for five in the 3rd, then tacked on three more in the 4th en route to a 9-5 win to split the doubleheader. Michael Cuevas didn’t make it out of the 3rd as he was chased by an Earl Weaver special after back-to-back walks with one out. Orlando Ribalta got his second “W” after stranding two in the 5th and putting up goose eggs in the 6th and 7th frames. Blake Rutherford came back from the I.L> with a vengeance, racking up eight total bases on two doubles and a HR while Frankie Tostado drove in four with a two-run single in the 3rd and a two-run double in the 4th to lead the Harrisburg offense. Wilmington made the most of its limited offense to score four times on four hits and got the pitching they needed to double up Aberdeen, 4-2. Dustin Saenz turned in another five solid innings, allowing one run on three hits for his first win of the season. Tyler Schoff bailed out Marlon Perez in the 6th, stranding two while getting two outs then set the side down in order in the 7th for the save. Jacob Young singled and scored ahead of James Wood’s double and went deep in the 5th to lead the Blue Rocks offense.

The Blue Rocks dug themselves out of a 2-0 hole with a three-run 5th as they held on for a 3-2 win to sweep the IronBirds. Kyle Luckham gave up both Aberdeen runs on five hits and a walk over four innings. He struck out a career-high of eight. Lucas Knowles tossed two scoreless to earn the win while Jack Sinclair pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to earn the save. Jordy Barley started the rally with a leadoff double and scored on Jacob Young’s RBI single. James Wood capped it off with a two-run HR. Barley singled in the 2nd while Wood had a safety in the 3rd to round out the five-hit effort by Wilmington.

Fredericksburg used the longball three times and got five strong innings from three relievers (wait, what?) to take their third straight from Lynchburg, 5-2. Pablo Aldonis labored through four innings, needing 71 pitches to get 12 outs as he let in the first Hillcats run on three hits and three walks while fanning four. Pedro González allowed the second Lynchburg run on two hits and two walks but got the win. Tyler Yankosky got the last four outs in order and stranded two to earn the save. Elijah Green drove in three on a 1st-inning ground out and a two-run HR in the 5th while Daylen Lile and Branden Boisserie both hit solo shots to power the FredNats attack.
