The Tides posted a picket fence in the late innings to erase an early 2-0 deficit and edge the Red Wings, 3-2. Wily Peralta blanked Norfolk on one hit over the first, with no walks and five whiffs. The loss went to Gerson Moreno on a solo HR in the 8th, following Jose Ferrer with a run given up in the 7th for a blown save and Andres Machado with a run let in in the 6th for a “hold.” Matt Adams’s 5th HR plated both Rochester runs while Darren Baker singled three times and drew a walk to lead the seven-hit, three-walk offense. Roster moves: RHP Anthony Castro activated from the 7-day I.L.

Officially the wind was blowing in at 13mph, but the Blue Rocks reversed that 15 times in 10 innings, but still managed to eke out a 4-2 win over the Cyclones. Dustin Saenz tossed five shutout innings, with the “help” of Brooklyn’s Kevin Parada trying to sneak home on a toss over to 1B. He allowed two hits, two walks, and struck out six. Jack Sinclair gave up the tying run in the 9th but was the pitcher of record when Wilmington scored the free runner and another in the top of the 10th. Lucas Knowles pitched a 1-2-3 10th to earn the save. Wilmer Perez singled and doubled while Jared McKenzie doubled twice to pace the Blue Rocks’ offense.

The wheels came off the bus in the 5th as Delmarva broke a 2-2 tie with a seven-run en route to a 16-4 defenestration. Mason Denaburg wobbled through three innings with two runs let in on a hit, four walks, a Victor Robles, and two wild pitches. Bryan Sanchez bore the brunt of the Shorebird assault as the 20-y.o. was hammered for nine runs on seven hits (two HRs) and a walk. He fanned three. Paul Witt singled and doubled while Donovan Casey singled, walked, and drove in two. Daylen Lile led the age-appropriate players with a double and two walks.
