The Red Wings pitchers could not throw the shutout needed to win with just three baserunners in a 6-1 loss to the Mets. Wily Peralta did his part with three shutout innings, one hit, and no walks. He struck out four. Tommy Romero did not. Syracuse lit him up for five runs on four hits including a two-run HR. He walked three and struck out three while taking his first loss. Matt Adams broke up the perfect game and the shutout with a solo HR to lead off the 5th. Two batters later, Jeter Downs doubled with two out (duh) for the second and final hit. Lucius Fox led off the 6th with a walk for the last Rochester baserunner.

Fredericksburg Nationals – OFF DAY
For whatever reason, the Carolina League’s ‘burgs were the only two teams in the league not scheduled last night. It may have been fortuitous given the rain that swept through the mid-Atlantic region last night. Tonight the FredNats start 2023 against the defending C.L. North champion Hillcats.
