Nats Make It to .500, Shut Out Mets, 3-0

After suffering a devastating loss off the field, the Nats took their third straight ST game with a 3-0 shutout of the Mets.

Wily Peralta got the start (and the win) as the journeyman tossed three scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks while setting down two on strikes.

Jeter Downs continues to get looks as the waiver claim started at SS and batted ninth. He tripled in two in his last at-bat in the 6th to push his spring BA to a robust .154 (4-for-26).

We’re edging closer to the end of my self-indulgence our spring training coverage, as the regulars start to play longer and the scrubs tend to be OGs and AAAAs instead of watchlisters.

Just two came off the bench:
Jared McKenzie spelled A-l-e-x C-a-l-l in LF in the top of the 7th and struck in the bottom of the 7th
Elijah Green subbed for Victor Robles in the 7th and flew out to end the 8th, ending his two-game hit streak

Former watchlisters Jackson Cluff and José Sánchez also had an AB in the 8th, with the former lining out and the latter grounding out.

MacKenzie Gore is slated to make his fifth spring start as the Nats “visit” the Astros this afternoon in West Palm Beach. The game can be heard on MLB.com with both teams broadcasting (*gasp*).
