AFL Update: Oct. 16, 2022

SSDG for Tim Cate, who didn’t make it out of the 1st  Forrest Gump pause  again in a 10-6 Peoria loss to Scottsdale.

The 25-y.o. retired just two of eight batters faced, giving up four singles and issuing two walks. He got the leadoff man and was lifted after his only strikeout, leaving the bases loaded.

Cleveland’s Lenny Torres let in two of three runners left on by Cate before rolling a ground ball to end the inning.

Cate threw 32 pitches, 16 for strikes. He was charged with five runs (all earned) and now has a Fall ERA of 60.75 – nine runs allowed on seven hits and three walks in an inning and a 1/3rd.

No other Washington Nationals players appeared in the game.

The Javelinas return to action tomorrow afternoon against the Scorpions at the Peoria Stadium Complex.
