Syracuse skipped batting practice and did it during the first three innings instead as they racked up seven runs against Franklyn Kilome en route to an 8-3 win over Rochester. Kilome got hammered for his fourth straight start and was chased with one out in the 3rd with eight hits and two walks allowed. It was his shortest outing of the season. Jake Alu extended his hit streak to five games with a single and a homer and drove in all three Red Wings runs as Rochester totaled seven hits and a walk.

The Senators had plenty of baserunners but like a dollar at Dollar Tree, one single isn’t going to cut it as the RubberDucks shut them out, 5-0. Seth Romero worked into the 4th for the first time this season but left after giving up a homer and a base-on-balls to the first two batters he faced in the frame. He finished with two runs allowed on three hits and four walks while striking out four over three-plus innings. Jack Dunn broke up the no-no with a single in the 5th that pushed Gilbert Lara to second where the 24-y.o. Dominican was able to watch the next three batters go down swinging. Harrisburg drew eight walks and struck out 12 times total.

Wilmington rallied for three in the bottom of the 4th to turn a 4-2 deficit into a 5-4 lead that the bullpen held for the win that eliminated Hudson Valley from the playoffs. Michael Cuevas let in all four Renegade runs on five hits (one HR) over four and 1/3rd innings. He walked none and struck out three. Jack Sinclair picked up the win with two and 2/3 scoreless innings with one hit, no walks, and three whiffs. Amos Willingham worked a two-out single in the 9th as he struck out the side to earn his third save. Leandro Emiliani led the Blue Rocks offense with a single, walk, and a double followed by Viandel Peña, who tripled in two and scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

Fredericksburg’s winning streak came to an end at the right time (regular season, natch) with a 4-2 loss to Salem. Andry Lara needed 80 pitches to get 12 outs as he gave up three runs on four hits (one HR) and three walks while striking out four. It was his eighth loss in 23 starts. Jared McKenzie singled twice and stole three bases while Geraldi Diaz homered in the 9th for the fifth and final hit. The FredNats went 0-for-9 with RISP and left on eight baserunners.
