Four Rochester pitchers shut out Toledo on four hits while the Red Wings batters roasted the Mud Hens pitchers for 17 runs and 15 hits. Joan Adon picked up his first win in the minors with five and 1/3rd scoreless innings pitched, allowing two hits and three walks while fanning three. Rochester built a 6-0 with a pair of three-run innings in the 1st and 2nd, extended it to 10 with a four-run 6th, and then got a touchdown and an extra point in the 7th. Andrew Stevenson led the hit column with three singles and a homer while Israel Pineda doubled, homered, and drove in five in his AAA debut.

The Flying Squirrels struck for four in the 7th to break a 4-4 deadlock as they doubled up the Senators, 8-4. Alex Troop continues to show signs of tiring as he gave up four runs on two home runs (that’s six over his last three starts) and five hits total over five innings. He walked one and struck out a career high of ten. Francys Peguero put on all four batters he faced to lose his sixth game. Trey Harris bookended a four-inning picket fence with a HR in the 2nd and an RBI single in the 5th while Yasel Antuna doubled twice and drove in a run to pace the Harrisburg offense. The loss eliminated the Sens from the second-half race.

Wilmington barely avoided the shutout while their tragic number was dropped to two in a 9-1 loss to Brooklyn. Mitchell Parker lost for the fourth time as he was spun for three runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out four. Paul Witt led off the 9th with a single, took second on a wild pitch, third on an error, and scored on an RBI groundout by Justin Connell.

The FredNats continue their domination of the Shorebirds as they won a see-saw battle, 8-6 for their 12th straight win against the O’s Low-A affiliate. Bryan Caceres failed to give up fewer hits than innings pitched for the tenth straight appearance as he let in eight runs on five hits and six walks over four and 2/3rds innings. Brendan Collins let in two of three inherited runners while getting out of the 5th but turned in two scoreless. He would get the “W” as Cortland Lawson’s two-run HR broke the 8-8 stalemate. Fredericksburg marched to a 15-hit parade with Trey Lipscomb leading the way with three singles and one of six stolen bases on the night. The win reduced the FredNats’ magic number to five as they lead the C.L. North by 5½ games with ten games left to play.
