The Red Wings outhomered the Indians 2-1 but the “1” was the difference in a 3-2 Rochester loss to Indianapolis. Patrick Murphy got the start and no-hit the Indians for four innings, allowing one runner on an error and issuing a balk while striking out four. Matt Cronin’s struggles continued with his second blown save as he let in two of three inherited runners. The loss went to Curtis Taylor on a home run to lead off the 8th. Nick Banks and Taylor Gushue both hit solo shots to lead the five-hit barrage.

Erie struck for three big innings in the 4th and 6th to turn a 2-1 nailbiter into a 9-1 win over Harrisburg. Luis Reyes reverted to the mean, giving up seven runs on six hits (five runs on two HR) over six innings. He walked two and struck out eight while losing for the seventh time at AA. Israel Pineda provided the lone run with his 6th big fly at AA while Wilson Garcia singled twice, and Omar Meregildo singled once to round out the Sens’ four-hit offense.

The IronBirds were held to seven hits by six pitchers. But ten walks were the undoing of the Blue Rocks as they were strafed, 8-2. Evan Lee issued three of those walks in the space of eight batters as Aberdeen got to him for two runs in his only inning thrown. Justin Connell broke up the shutout bid with a second-inning solo shot while Onix Vega hit a pinch-hit double. The rest of the lineup mustered just three singles.

T.J. White’s two-run HR in the 5th tied it while Geraldi Diaz drove in the gamewinner with a sac fly for a 3-2 Fredericksburg win over Down East. Jackson Rutledge’s 31st Low-A start was his second seven-inning effort this month and his seventh quality start of 2022. The 23-y.o. gave up two solo shots and six hits total while walking three and fanning four. The decision went to Peyton Glavine, who was perfect for the last two innings with two whiffs. White reached base four times with two singles and a walk to go with the HR while Jacob Young hit his tenth double to highlight the FredNats’ five-hit, six-walk offense.

While the F-Nats were able to pull into a tie with the F-Mets with a 5-3 win over the F-Cards, as suspected, they had already been eliminated on Saturday when they lost for the sixth time against the F-Mets. That had ensured they could not win the first tiebreaker (head-to-head record, which was 6-6) and their tailspin last week sealed the deal as the F-Mets won the second tiebreaker, which was the better record over the last 20 games (12-8 vs. 8-12). The D-Nats were unable to get back to .500 as they lost the season finale, 6-2 to the D-Rockies. Bryan Polanco was knocked from the box in the 4th with three runs let in on four hits and a walk. He hit two batters and struck out four while losing his third game. Jenier Fernandez and Misael Mojica both went 1-for-3 with an RBI as the D-Nats were held to six hits total without a walk drawn.
