That crunching noise you hear just might be the sound of MASN and WaPo Commenters champing at the bit to call up Cade Cavalli after he struck out a season-high 11 batters in a 5-1 Red Wings win. The birthday boy (24 today) won his fifth game while going seven innings for the fourth time. He let in the lone Tides run on three hits and two walks. Francisco Perez and Reed Garrett both struck out two while putting up a goose egg to close out the game. Alex Call and Riley Adams both drove in two while Rochester delivered three sacrifice flies to mask a 2-for-6 night with RISP.

Four Harrisburg pitchers combined to shut out Reading, 2-0, on six hits. Alex Troop struck out nine and walked one over six innings, giving up five hits as he won for the fourth time as a starter and seventh time overall. Reid Schaller bounced back from Friday night’s loss to earn the save, his third while Bryan Gonzalez and Francys Peguero each earned a hold. Trey Harris and Jack Dunn hit back-to-back singles with two outs and both scored as the Fightins effed up twice committed two errors while fielding Dunn’s single. Darren Baker also singled to round out the Sens’ three-hit barrage.

The Blue Rocks erased a 2-0 deficit with a four-run 6th and held on for a 4-2 win. Lucas Knowles turned in his first quality start of the season with both Cyclones runs allowed on six hits (one HR) and no walks. He won for the fifth time and struck out one. Garvin Alston blanked Brooklyn for two frames for his second hold while Gerardo Carillo worked around a hit in the 9th for his second save. Drew Mendoza singled three times in four trips to the plate while Robert Hassell singled twice to lead the Wilmington offense.

Angel Geraldo’s bases-clearing double tied the game 4-4 in the 6th, setting up an extra-innings win by the F-Nats, 6-4 over the F-Astros Blue. Recent signee Nick Pogue got the opening assignment and worked around a single in the 1st. Brayan Romero was lit up for four runs across an inning and 2/3rds for a blown save. The win went to Juan Abreu with two hitless (and scoreless!) innings, three walks, and three whiffs.

Three D-Nats pitchers combined to shut out the D-Brewers 2, 5-0, on five hits. Randy Lara ran into trouble in the 4th, loading the bases with two out before Michael Francisco came on to strand all three with a strikeout. He would add two more zeroes to the board and get the win as the D-Nats got an RBI double in the 5th by Enmanuel Ramirez, a two-run inside-the-park HR in the 6th by Jhoan Contreras, and two-run over-the-wall HR in the 7th by Jorgelys Mota.
