With their sixth straight loss, 12-5 to the RailRiders, the Red Wings sunk to .500 for the first time since April. Franklyn Kilome was strafed for four runs on six hits (two HR) and a walk over three innings. He struck out six. Joey Meneses hit his team-leading 20th HR while going 2-for-5 and driving in three while Ildemaro Vargas singled, doubled, and drove in two to lead the Rochester offense.

Harrisburg stroked three HRs to score seven runs, but the five-run lead they built was too small for the ‘pen to hold in an 8-7 loss. Tim Cate was dinged for two first-inning runs but recovered to toss four scoreless and finish with five innings of two-run ball on four hits and two walks. He struck out three. Andrew Young’s grand slam in the 5th gave Harrisburg a 7-2 lead. Alas, Cate’s first AA win of ’22 went poof with three relievers combining to give up six runs over the last three innings, with Danny Dopico getting his second blown save and Brian Gonzalez losing for the third time. Jack Dunn led the hit column with two singles and a double, followed by Darren Baker with two safeties. Israel Pineda and Gilbert Lara also homered.

The BlueClaws put the pinch on the Blue Rocks early and often, jumping out to a 7-0 lead after three and easily took the opener, 8-1. Dustin Saenz was deciphered for seven runs on seven hits over three innings for the loss, his second. He walked none, struck out two, and hit two batters. Jeremy De La Rosa was the only Wilmington batter to reach base twice with one each of the Blue Rocks’ three singles and four walks.

Fredericksburg was in the midst of a possible rally, loading the bases on a walk, a Yoander Rivero double, and a hit batsman before the umpires stopped play. They’ll pick up where they left off in the bottom of the fifth, with three on and nobody out, and complete this one tonight, with a seven-inning game afterward.

The F-Nats battled back from 3-0 and 4-1 down to take this one, 6-4. Mother Nature got an assist as the game was called due to lightning. Bryan Sanchez got the start but was peeled for three runs on five hits and no walks over three innings. He struck out one. Adrian Ogando turned in three scoreless, allowing one hit and one walk while fanning two to pick up his second win. Roismar Quintana tied the game at 4-4 with an Earl Weaver special and added two more singles to lead the F-Nats attack, followed by Armando Cruz, who singled twice, scored once, and stole his fifth base.

A five-run 2nd did the deed as the D-Giants Orange squeezed the D-Nats, 9-3. Gustavo Rivas took the loss, giving up the aforementioned five runs on five hits (one HR) and two walks over an inning and 2/3rds. Helder Rosario singled and homered while Jenier Fernandez doubled to power the D-Nat offense.
