The Storm Chasers struck for two runs twice while the Red Wings were only able to avoid a shutout with a single run in the 4th for a 4-1 loss. Logan Verrett lost for the seventh time despite a quality start of two runs on three hits and a walk over six innings. He set down five on strikes. Josh Palacios extended his hit streak to ten games and his on-base streak to 23 with a solo HR. Joey Meneses singled twice while Andrew Stevenson and Jake Alu both singled once to round out the Rochester hit column.

Harrisburg homered twice but had but five hits total in a 9-4 loss to Hartford. Luis Reyes gave up four runs on two homers and six hits total over five innings while issuing three walks and striking out seven. The loss went to Reid Schaller who put on five baserunners while getting four outs, three by way of the K. John Nogoski homered to get the Senators on the board while Andrew Young homered to tie the game at 4-4 before the Yard Goats answered Harrisburg’s three-run outburst in the top of the 7th with five runs in the bottom of the 7th.

The Blue Rocks built leads of 3-0 and 4-1 but couldn’t hold off Hickory, which scored in five of eight “ups” for a 6-5 win. Dustin Saenz lost his High-A debut, giving up five runs on eight hits (two HR) and two walks over five and 2/3rds innings. He struck out two. Onix Vega, Omar Meregildo, and Israel Pineda each hit a home run in Wilmington’s 12-hit attack.

Fredericksburg barely avoided a shutout as they scored twice in the 9th in a 9-2 loss to Augusta. Bryan Caceres was dinged for three runs on four hits (one HR) over four innings to lose his 5th game. T.J. White broke up the shutout with a double in the 9th but was also thrown out at the plate to end the game, trying to score from second on a single to shallow center field by Andry Arias, who collected the seventh and final hit on the night for the FredNats while driving in the second run.

Make that 14 straight wins for the F-Nats, who got single runs in the 3rd and 4th innings and held on for a 2-1 win. Gabriel Agostini tossed five scoreless innings to win his first game of ’22, allowing three hits, walking two, and fanning five. 18-y.o. Armando Cruz led the age-appropriate hitters with two doubles, followed by 21-y.o. Angel Geraldo one double, which plated the second F-Nats run.

The D-Nats homered once to tie and again to win as they squeezed the D-HOU Orange, 5-3. 18-y.o. Marcos Fortunato gave a two-run HR in the 1st but followed with four scoreless, giving up five hits and one walk while striking out five total. 17-y.o. Miguel Fernandez tied the game at 3-3 with a two-run HR in the bottom of the 7th while 17-y.o. Cristhian Vaquero walked off the DHOs with his first professional HR, a two-run homer with one out. The big fly made a winner out of 21-y.o. Michael Francisco, who shook off a six-run bitch-slapping on Wednesday with a 1-2-3 top of the 8th.
