A five-run lead going into the 8th was erased by an epic meltdown as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre scored seven times to hang another loss on Rochester, 8-6. Patrick Murphy faced five batters and put all five on while Mason Thompson emptied the bases and let in two of his own for the blown-save-loss. Cole Freeman led the Red Wings’ hit column with three singles and stole two bases while Nick Bank reached base three times with a triple, walk, and a single to lead the Rochester offense.

The Red Wings found a way to lose their ninth straight, 10-9, in the regularly scheduled game. Josh Rogers was lit up for six runs on eight hits, including nos. 16, 17, and 18 overall, over three and 2/3rds innings. He walked none and struck out two. Jake Noll homered twice to drive in three, a total matched by Jecksson Flores and Riley Adams combined, along with a walk and two singles to power Rochester’s 11-hit, two-walk offense.

Luis Reyes turned in his best performance since 2017 but was let down both on both offense and defense in Harrisburg’s 2-1 loss to Akron. Reyes gave up both runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks (one intentional) and struck out five. With runners on first and second and two out, Rudy Martin loaded up on a single to right for an apparent throw home but instead lost the handle and spiked it into the outfield grass, enabling both runs to score. He would get his shot at redemption (but no photo opportunity) with the tying run on second and two out in the 9th but struck to end the game. Gilbert Lara drove in Brady Lindsly for the Sens’ one run, cashing in the one extra-base hit with the one hit in nine RISP chances.

The Blue Rocks were held to just two hits from Yasel Antuna as the Blue Claws shut them out on two hits, 2-0. Andrew Alvarez took the loss with both Jersey Shore runs allowed on four hits and two walks over four innings. Jack Sinclair put on three baserunners over three scoreless innings but it was for naught as the BlueClaws pitchers no-hit everyone but Yasel Antuna, who singled twice in three trips to the plate.

Wilmington tripled its hit total in the nightcap but still got swiped left for a 3-0 shutout. Rodney Theophile notched his first quality start at High-A with two unearned runs given up on three hits and two walks. He fanned five while losing for the fourth time in eight starts for the Blue Rocks. Wilmer Perez led the Wilmington hit column with two singles while Cole Daily also reached base twice with a walk and a single.

A 6-2 lead was blown in the late innings, [Gomer Pyle] surprise, surprise [/Gomer Pyle] it was the Red Sox ‘pen that gave up seven runs in the last two innings to lose to the FredNats, 9-6. Pablo Aldonis’s scoreless inning streak ended at 10 as Salem pressed him for four runs in three innings on seven hits (two HR). He walked two and struck out two. The win went to Tyler Schoff, who let in an inherited runner while getting out of the 7th and pitched a scoreless 8th. Riggs Threadgill cordero’d around two walks in the 9th for his 5th save. Viandel Peña singled three times, scored twice, and stole his 28th and 29th bases while Will Frizzell doubled twice and drove in three to lead the Fredericksburg offense.

Unlike the FredNats, the F-Nats stuck to the script and blew an 8-3 lead after six for a 9-8 loss in the 9th. Johan Otanez got the start and let in three runs (two earned) on two hits (one homer) and three walks over four innings while striking out six. The loss went to Juan Abreu, who sandwiched a strikeout between a leadoff walk and a two-run walk-off homer. Jeisel Acosta drove in three with his first pro HR while Elisel Santana and Armando Cruz both went 2-for-3 with walk, a run scored, and a caught stealing.

Randy Lara fell an out shy of qualifying for the “W,” presumably hitting his pitch limited while giving up both DGO hits, issuing two walks, and setting down seven on strikes. Ronni Montero walked one and struck out three while finishing the game. Cristhian Vaquero singled twice, walked once, and stole his eighth base while Dawry Martinez went yard for the first time to lead the D-Nats attack, which was unable to make the most of the ten (10) walks drawn.
