For some reason, Alberto Baldonado was left in after blowing a 5-2 lead in the 9th, giving him the chance to lose… which he did four batters later to complete the four-run meltdown and a 6-5 loss for Rochester. He retired one of seven batters faced and gave up four hits, including a three-run HR. Aníbal Sánchez turned in a decent start of five and 1/3rd innings with two runs lets in on four hits and three walks while fanning three. Adrián Sanchez led the Red Wings offense with two doubles, two runs scored, and two RBI and teamed up with Donovan Casey on a double steal, swiping home plate for the final Rochester run.

Harrisburg has lost seven times this season when scoring five or more runs. Last night was the third time this week, as the SeaWolves outslugged the Senators, 7-5 to push their current skid to five games. Ronald Herrera also lost his fifth game, as he gave up three runs on six hits and two walks over three and 2/3rds while striking out two. Five of Harrisburg’s 13 hits went for extra bases, including Jake Alu’s 9th HR, and doubles by Wilson Garcia, Gilbert Lara, Brady Lindsly, and John Nogowski.

The rains came in the top of the 8th with two on and nobody out, perhaps stopping the killshot as the Blue Rocks punctuated the Dash, 4-1. Seth Shuman was lifted with two outs in the 2nd due to an unspecified/apparent injury (remember it’s the home team feed on MiLB.tv), thus the win went to Lucas Knowles, who got the last out of the 2nd and went two more innings, letting in the Winston-Salem run on two hits and a walk. Meanwhile, Wilmington got one in the 3rd, two in the 4th, and one in the 7th. Ricardo Méndez led the Blue Rocks hit column with a single and a double and stole his 11th base while Jordy Barley singled, walked, and stole his 25th base despite chugging along the frontage road (i.e., just off the Interstate) at .206.

Fredericksburg made it 11 wins out of the last 13 with a 4-1 win over Lynchburg. Andry Lara won for the second time with five innings of one-run ball, scattering seven hits, walking none, and fanning five. Cody Greenhill was perfect for the next three, racking up a career-best six K’s to earn his third hold while Riggs Threadgill set the side down in order in the 9th for his second save. Jacob Young was a double shy of the cycle as he went 3-for-4 with his eighth triple and his first HR of ’22 while Jeremy De LaRosa, who leads the team in BA, OBP, and SLG, doubled twice and drove in a run to power the FredNats offense.

The F-Nats broke out for four in the 3rd as they won for the sixth time in the last seven games, 5-1 over the F-Mets. Victor Arano put in his inning of rehab before the putative starter, Johan Otanez, let in a run on three hits and three walks over three and a 1/3rd innings to pick up the win. Karlo Seijas had to settle for his third save, as he finished the game with four and 2/3rds scoreless on three hits and no walks while fanning four. Armando Cruz, Jackson Coutts, and Roismar Quintana each had two hits to pace the F-Nats offense.

The blown-save-win went to Michael Francisco, who gave up a run on two hits while fanning two in the 9th. Crithian Vaquero singled three times, walked twice, scored once, and stole his 5th base while Jhoan Contreras doubled twice to lead the D-Nats’ attack.
