Inarguably none too soon—though losing 31 games without winning 19 may have been the tipping point for the MASN Commenters—the big club has begun dipping into the AAA pool for auditions/help. RHP Jordan Weems and LHP Francisco Perez were recalled yesterday, replaced by RHPs Andres Machado, and, unless he’s claimed on waivers, Austin Voth.

Erie plundered Harrisburg for seven in the 2nd and sailed to an 11-3 win in the series opener. Steven Fuentes took the loss, allowing the aforementioned seven runs on eight hits (2HR) and two walks over four innings while striking out three. The Senators collected seven hits, led by Justin Connell with two singles and a double, but also struck out 12 times. Roster moves: LHP Evan Lee is expected to be recalled for this afternoon’s start against the Mets. Lee had been scheduled to start tomorrow’s game for Harrisburg.

Five Blue Rocks combined to shut out the Grasshoppers, 5-0, on eight hits. Jake Irvin scattered five hits over his usual four innings, but did not walk a batter and fanned three. Carlos Romero did what he could to lose the shutout, putting on four baserunners in the space of nine batters, but earned the win with an assist from Malvin Peña, who stranded three runners while getting the last out in the 6th. Wilmington managed just six hits, struck out 14 times, and did not draw a walk, but three of those six hits were home runs to offset the otherwise subpar offense.

Fayetteville pecked the Fredericksburg bullpen for seven runs in its last three turns at bat to turn a 2-0 lead into a 9-0 smackdown. Bryan Caceres took the loss, his third, on five innings of two-run ball. He gave up six hits, no walks, and hit two batsman while setting down three on strikes. Jeremy De La Rosa singled twice while Viandel Peña singled once. The rest of the FredNats were 0-for-22 with four walks and 12 whiffs (14 total).
