Rochester scored six times in eight innings as they outslugged Syracuse, 10-9. Cory Abbott led the brigade of relievers with three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out six. The “W” went to Matt Brill with two goose eggs in the 6th and 7th while Jordan Weems earned his 10th save by working around a hit in the 9th. The veteran trio of Josh Palacios, Andrew Stevenson, and Joey Meneses combined for eight hits, five runs, two doubles, a HR (Setvenson), and six RBI as the Red Wings racked up 15 hits total.

The Senators bullpen was ravaged for eight runs over five innings in an 8-2 loss to the RubberDucks – the sixth straight for the second time this season. Ronald Herrera got the starting nod and faced the minimum over three innings, allowing a hit but no walks and striking out three. The loss went to Francys Peguero, who let in five runs on six hits and a walk over two and a 1/3rd innings. Wilson Garcia homered in the 2nd and Andrew Young homered in the 9th to account for the two Harrisburg runs. Young also singled as did Brady Lindsly to round out the Sens’ hit total of four (4).

Wilmington eked out a run in the 8th to secure the 1-0 shutout and a four-game winning streak to close out the first half. Tim Cate tossed seven scoreless innings with three hits and two walks allowed. He struck out eight while registering back-to-back quality starts. Lucas Knowles and Malvin Peña both struck out two while pitting up a zero on the scoreboard to earn the win and save, respectively. Jeremy Ydens singled, stole second, and came around on José Sanchez’s RBI single for the one hit in seven RISP chances. The Blue Rocks tallied eight hits, one walk, stole three bases on offense and turned two double plays on defense.

The FredNats led the C.L. North by 3½ games after 26 games but finished the half at dead even 33-33 with a 3-2 loss to the Red Sox. Dustin Saenz made his second start after a month-long layoff and spun four scoreless with three hits and a walk allowed and five whiffs. The reigning Carolina Pitcher of the Week will be deposed after two Salem batters homered for three runs in the 6th to hand him his first loss. T.J. White doubled in the first Fredericksburg run in the 2nd and homered in the 7th but grounded into a double play to end the game in the 9th.

The F-Nats rallied for three in the top of the 9th to take a 6-4 lead, gave two back to go to extras, then pounded out five runs in the 10th for an 11-6 win that took nearly four hours to play despite no broadcast. Anibal Sánchez got the starting nod as the MLB rehab and let in a run over three innings. The presumptive starter Johan Otanez gave up two on seven hits and a walk over the next four. Franklin Marquez picked up the win as the pitcher of record despite giving up three runs in the last two frames of regulation. Christopher De La Cruz led the F-Nats offense with three singles and three RBI, followed by Erick Tejeda with a walk, single, and a double and two runs scored.
