• Gushue 3-5, R, 2B, 3RBI
• Stevenson 3-5, 3R, 2SB
A pop fly into shallow RF (pictured above) off the glove of the second baseman turned into a game-winning double for Taylor Gushue as the Red Wings walked off the IronPigs, 10-9. The missed play gave Jordan Weems his second win after blowing his first save in the 9th by coughing up a two-run HR to Darick Hall. Early on, neither team understood this was baseball not softball as it was 6-6 after two innings. Lehigh Valley put the tines in the spine of Jefry Rodriguez in the 3rd after taking a 7-6 lead with two out on their 10th hit. Joey Meneses led the 14-hit parade with three singles and a HR, followed by Gushue with the game-winning double and two singles, and Andrew Stevenson, who singled three times, scored three times, and swiped two bases.
Harrisburg vs. Portland – PPD
Harrisburg saw its third postponement in a week as rain pushed this one to today for twi-night doubleheader.
Jersey Shore 5 Wilmington 4
• Irvin 3IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 4K, HBP
• Stainbrook (L, 1-2) 1IP, 1H, 1R, 0ER, 2BB, 0K
• Antuna 3-4, R, SB(10)
• Baker 3-5
A two-out error in the 7th proved to be the difference as the BlueClaws pinched the Blue Rocks, 5-4. Jake Irvin hit his pitch limit after three innings, in which he let in two runs on three hits and two walks. He struck out four and hit a batter. Troy Stainbrook took the loss on an unearned run, though he put on three baserunners with a hit and two walks in his single inning pitched. Yasel Antuna and Darren Baker both singled three times while Onix Vega singled, doubled, and drove in two to pace the Wilmington offense.
Delmarva 4 Fredericksburg 3
• Theophile (L, 3-1) 5IP, 4H, 4R, 4ER, 2BB, 3K
• P. González 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 0K
• De La Rosa 2-4, R, BB, SB
• V. Peña 1-4, 2B(5), R, SB(10)
Delmarva struck for all four of its runs in the 1st and held on for a 4-3 win over Fredericksburg. Rodney Theophile took the loss—his first—while giving up all four Shorebird runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings. The clutch hit eluded the FredNats as they were 0-for-8 with RISP, though that obscures two sacrifice flies by Brady House and one by Steven Williams. Jeremy De La Rosa reached base three times with a walk and a pair of singles while Viandel Peña hit his 5th double and stole his 10th base to lead Fredericksburg’s five-hit, four-walk offense.
