AFL Update: Oct. 26, 2021

Perhaps it’s fitting that the two pitchers who went unscathed got the “W” and the “SV” as the Saguaros outslugged the Solar Sox, 16-15 yesterday afternoon.

Jackson Cluff was once again the sole Nats position player in the starting lineup. The 24-y.o. from Colorado went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, and three runs scored. He had three assists while manning the shortstop position.

Cole Henry got the start but was, um, scorched by the Solar Sox for four runs on four hits (one homer) over three innings. He walked two and struck out five and issued two Victor Robles.

Todd Peterson was the second man out of the Surprise bullpen and was the winning pitcher with two scoreless innings. He allowed two hits, no walks, and struck out two while stranding the one runner he inherited.

Evan Lee followed Peterson and was knocked around for three runs on three hits, a hit batsman, and a walk during his lone inning pitched. He threw 20 pitches, 12 for strikes.

As aforementioned, the Yankees’ Tanner Myatt saved some scorekeeper’s lead (ok, fine: graphite) by issuing just one walk in the 9th as he got three outs in the 9th to register the save.

The Sagauros head back out on the road for a visit to Scottsdale this afternoon.
