Victor Robles led off the game with a solo HR and Nick Banks followed with a single. It was all downhill from there as the RailRiders railroaded the Red Wings, 5-1. Luis Reyes lost for the fourth time in six AAA starts, giving up all five Scranton/Wilkes-Barre runs on six hits (one HR) and one walk. He struck out four. Tanner Rainey issued a walk while getting all three outs in the 6th. Donovan Casey walked with one out in the 2nd and Jake Noll led off the 7th with a walk to round out the Rochester “offense” for the first game.

The RailRiders scored in each of their first four “ups” to cruise an 11-3 win and hand the Red Wings their ninth straight loss. Sterling Sharp gave up five runs on three homers and seven runs/five hits total over three innings to drop his fourth game. Rochester went 1-for-7 with RISP but that “1” was an Earl Weaver special by Raudy Read. Jake Noll singled three times to lead the seven-hit, one-walk attack.

Like Sharp, Fuentes’s sinker wasn’t sinking as Bowie got to the 24-y.o. Panamanian for four solo HRs in a 5-3 win over Harrisburg. Fuentes pitched into the sixth and gave up six hits total while walking two and fanning four. Reid Schaller and Carlos Navas combined for three and 2/3rds scoreless inning of relief but were matched by the BaySox bullpen, which blanked the Senators over the last three innings. Harrisburg got all its runs and hits in the 4th inning as back-to-back singles by Jordy Mercer and Cole Freeman were followed by back-to-back doubles by Aldrem Corredor (1RBI) and Rhett Wiseman (2RBI).

The Blue Rocks fell behind 5-1 after 6½ innings, but rallied for two in 7th, two in the 8th, and walked off in the 9th for a 6-5 win over the IronBirds. Richard Gausch got the start and went four innings, letting two on two hits, three walks, and a Victor Robles. He struck out seven but threw two wild pitches. The win went to Davis Moore, with two scoreless innings and five whiffs. Drew Millas’s third single of the night came ahead of Israel Pineda’s 13th HR of the year (in 72G) to tie it at 5-5. A Jeremy Ydens single, a sacrifice by Ricardo Méndez), and another single by Yasel Antuna delivered the win to Wilmington.

While it’s tempting to blame the loss on the beer that Fredericksburg may be holding for Rochester (as the Red Wings make a run to match the F-Nats’ 15-game winless streak), the truth is that the Andry Lara was a bit too wild (2WP, 5BB) in his Low-A debut as Delmarva tripled up Fredericksburg, 6-2. Lara gave up four runs on two bases-loaded wild pitches and a two-run HR in the 5th over four and 2/3rds innings. Fredericksburg was limited to four hits but drew five walks. Jacob Young drove in two of those free passes in the 5th with a two-run double.

The FCL Nats fell behind 6-0 after two innings but got three in the 4th and four in the 7th for a 7-6 comeback win over the FCL Marlins. Aldo Ramirez gave up all six runs on six hits and two walks over an inning and 2/3rds. Pedro González, Franklin Marquez, and Orland Ribalta combined for six and a 1/3rd scoreless innings of relief, with Marquez picking up his third win and Ribalta getting his second save. Jackson Coutts pushed his BA to .431 with two singles and a double while the Nats’ two schoolboys – Brady “He’s a Brick” House and T.J. White – both went 2-for-5 to power the FCL Nats offense.
