Reaching base four times in a game: good for a player, bad for a team. The Red Wings did just that as they were shut out, 11-0 on two hits and two walks by the Bison. Luis Reyes was lit up for six runs on six hits (one HR) and three walks over three and a 1/3rd innings to lose his AAA debut. Keibert Ruiz broke up the perfect game with a 1st-inning walk while Rafael Bautista broke up the no-hitter with a one-out single in the 3rd. Jake Noll’s single with one out in the 9th pushed the other walk drawn by Jecksson Flores to second base for the one and only baserunner to get into scoring position. Roster moves: RHP Luis Reyes reassigned from Harrisburg.

Harrisburg battled back from a 3-0 deficit to take a 4-3 lead going into the 9th. An Earl Weaver special with one out in the top of the 9th turned it into a 6-4 hole. The Sens could only get back one (on a wild pitch) to lose 6-5 to the Fisher Cats. Seth Romero struck out nine and walked one over five scoreless innings – the first time he’s pitched five innings since 2018 and the third time overall in 22 starts. Gilbert Lara singled three times and drove in two while Donovan Casey hit his third HR in seven games since joining the team on August 3rd.

The Blue Rocks had been no-hit for three innings and were falling deeper into a 4-0 hole in the top of the 4th when the rains came with one out, two in, and three on base. They’ll resume play tonight at 5:05 and finish this one, then play a seven-inning game afterward. Roster moves: C Israel Pineda placed on the 7-Day I.L. (August 8).

Fredericksburg blew a 6-0 lead, including three runs in the 9th, but walked off for the fifth time this season with a 7-6 win. Jackson Rutledge’s return from the I.L. lasted just an inning and a 1/3rd as he left with a(nother) blister. Matt Merrill, who started in this turn of the rotation last week, came on in relief but was dinged for three runs on five hits while fanning seven over three innings. Tanner Driskill and Amos Willingham settled things down to get it to the 9th with the 6-3 intact, but Troy Stainbrook retired just one of five batters faced and was charged with three runs, the last coming on a bunt to the pitcher (Tomás Alastre) and a not-scored-as-an error from José Sánchez who threw wide to home, enabling the tying run to score and the trail runner to move up to third.
Jeremy De La Rosa led off the bottom of the 9th with a single, stole second, took third on a wild pitch, and scored on a tapper to third off the bat of Junior Martina. It was the third time the F-Nats had allowed the tying run(s) to score in the top of the 9th but got the winning run in the bottom of the 9th. De La Rosa and Jake Boone both singled twice while Kevin Strohschein launched his 10th HR to lead the Fredericksburg offense. Roster moves: RHP Jackson Rutledge activated from 7-Day I.L.; LHP Chris Vann reassigned from the FCL.

It’s five games over the next four days (weather permitting) at West Palm Beach as the FCL Nats make up a postponement from last week on Friday while hosting the rest of the FCL East.

Three D-Nats pitchers combined on a one-hit, 3-0 shutout. Jose Cedeño faced the minimum over six innings, striking out nine and picking off the batter he plunked at 1B for his second win. 17-y.o. Gabriel Agostini picked up the hold with two scoreless while El Abuelo (OK, fine, he’s 23) Juan Diaz worked around a walk in the 9th for the save. Armando Cruz singled twice to lead the D-Nats’ hit column while Eliesel Santana notched the only RBI with a double in the 9th.
