Lehigh Valley vs. Rochester – PPD
The tenth Red Wings postponement in 2021 will force a twi-night twinbill tonight at Frontier Field. Rochester released its preliminary 2022 schedule, which will include games outside of its division, but not every team in the AAA East. Off days will continue to Mondays (with a few exceptions) and, as expected(feared), the six-game series is not going away.

Harrisburg broke open a 1-0 game with five in the 4th en route to a 7-1 win over Akron. Jackson Tetreault labored through five innings of one-run ball with three hits and four walks given up. He struck out six while winning his third AA game. Bryan Dobzanski, Jhon Romero, and (the law firm of) Pearson McMahan combined for four scoreless to close it out. Jacob Rhinesmith singled in one and homered in two while Jake Alu singled twice as the Sens squeezed seven runs out of six hits and five walks with the “help” of an error in the aforementioned 4th, just before Cole Freeman singled in two runs.

Make that seven in a row for the Blue Rocks, who scored four times in the 10th to shoot down the IronBirds, 10-6. Richard Gausch struggled for the second time in three starts, giving up five runs on five hits and three walks over three and 2/3rds innings. Prepping for his role as a future Big Nats reliever, Alfonso Hernández balked in a runner before throwing a single pitch. He got out of the 4th and pitched two scoreless thereafter. Wilmington pounded out 17 hits total, with beers on Omar Meregildo and Yasel Antuna leading the hit column with three singles. Armond Upshaw remains red-hot (19-for-52, 3HR, 13RBI), reaching base four times, including a Rickey Henderson in the 1st.

The Shorebirds were just a bit more efficient on offense as they outdueled the F-Nats, 3-1. Michael Cuevas pitched into the 5th, allowing one run on three hits and four walks while striking out three. He was rewarded with his fifth loss. Both teams had just five hits, but Delmarva had six walks (two scored) and was 2-for-7 with RISP while Fredericksburg was hitless (0-for-8). Onix Vega was the only F-Nat to reach base twice (1B, HBP) and scored the lone run.

The FCL Nats poured it on late to turn a 6-0 lead into a 13-1 laugher with seven runs in the 9th. Steven Fuentes did his rehab and turned in three scoreless innings, allowing two hits, no walks, and striking out seven. The “W” went to 6th Rd. pick Michael Kirian (1IP, 0R, 2H), who was the pitcher of record when the Nats took the lead, though Johan Otanez was the most effective reliever (2IP, 0R, 0H). Andry Arias singled twice and doubled twice to lead the 12-hit parade.
