Syracuse 6 Rochester 3
• Tomshaw (L, ) 4⅓ IP, 4H, 4R, 4ER, BB, 3K, 2HR; 1-2
• Bacus 1⅔ IP, 2H, 0R, 0BB, 1K, 1-1 IR-S
• Flores 3-4, 2B, RBI
• Palka 2-4, 2-2B

The S-Mets struck twice in the 5th to break a 2-2 tie and went on to double up the Red Wings, 6-3. Matt Tomshaw reverted to the mean with four runs allowed on four hits (two HR) and a walk over four and a 1/3rd innings for his third loss with Rochester and sixth overall. Lane Thomas led off the game with a home run, his first as a Red Wing to get things started. In the 2nd, Jecksson Flores doubled in a run for the only Rochester hit in six RISP chances. The third Red Wings run scored on a Brandon Snyder sac fly in the 8th.

Erie 8 Harrisburg 4
• S. Romero (L, 0-1) 1⅔ IP, 5H, 5R, 5ER, 3BB, 2K, HR(GS)
• Teel 4⅓ IP, 4H, 0R, BB, 5K
• Freeman 2-4, 2B, RBI, SB
• Harrison 2-4, 2R, 2B, RBI

Carson Teel was lights-out in relief, tossing four and a 1/3rd scoreless innings. Unfortunately, while he did his part to stem the tide, the offense and the rest of the ‘pen did not as Erie doubled up Harrisburg, 8-4. Teel’s efforts were made possible by Seth Romero’s foibles: five runs on five hits (one grand slam) and three walks over just an inning and 2/3rds. He fanned two while taking the loss. Donovan Casey got the new-guy-must-get-a-HR memo and went deep in the 4th while Cole Freeman and K.J. Harrison both went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the Sens squeezed four runs out of just six hits.

Bowling Green 7 Wilmington 1
• Parker ⅔ IP, 0H, 0R, 2BB, 2K
• M. Peña (L, 0-3) 2IP, 4H, 3R, 3ER, BB, 4K, 2HR
• Schlabach 2IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 3K
• Upshaw 1-R, R, HR, RBI
• Antuna 0-4, E(19)

Three Hot Rods pitchers combined for a one-hitter in a 7-1 win over the Blue Rocks. Armond Upshaw’s 7th HR in the 3rd broke up the no-hitter and the shutout bid. Omar Meregildo (walk, 2nd) and Paul Witt (reached on error) were the only other Wilmington batters to reach base. Mitchell Parker faced just five batters before being lifted for an unknown reason (no MiLB.tv, nothing in the Hot Rods’ writeup, no local media coverage, no gamer on the Blue Rocks’ website, nothing on the Twitters). The loss went to Malvin Peña, who gave up three runs and four hits (two HR) over two innings in relief. Roster moves: RHP Cole Henry transferred from 7-Day to 60-Day I.L.

Fredericksburg 4 Fayetteville 1
• Merrill 3IP, 1H, 0R, 2BB, 6K, WP
• Alastre (W, 1-1) 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 3K
• G. Diaz 1-2, R, 2BB
• Barley 0-2, 2R, 2BB, 2SB

Fredericksburg got one in 8th to tie and three in the 9th to win as they took Game Two, 4-1. Matt Merrill got the spot start and put up three goose eggs while allowing a hit, two walks, and striking out six. Tomás Alastre picked up the win, his first since Aug. 24, 2019, with two scoreless innings in the 8th and 9th. The F-Nats took advantage of ten (10) walks and survived 16 strikeouts, with Geraldi Diaz, Jake Boone, and Jake Randa each collecting a hit.

FCL Nationals – OFF DAY
